Here's my daily update of my 3 friends that are pregnant/new moms going through a tough time.
FI's cousin (the one not due until April) is doing better today. They don't think it's kidney stones now, but they still don't know what it is. She said they moved her to a bigger long-term room in the maternity unit, but she is able to shower and walk around a bit today. She seems a little more chipper today and more like herself, but she said she's still in pain and still pumped with meds.
My friend that had a baby 2 weeks ago got hospitalized yesterday for an infection. She found out today it started out as ecoli and got into her bloodstream and caused a kidney infection. She said last night was really scary in that her temp spiked to 104.5 and she was shaking uncontrollably for about a half hour like she was having a seizure. She got a catscan and that's how the doctors figured out it was a kidney infection and she was passing a kidney stone. Earlier today her temp dropped to 101 and she was feeling better. She has to be 48 hours fever free before they send her home. When she goes home she will have to go everyday to get iv's for 2 weeks. Not the ideal situation for a new mom, but she's doing better now.
The last friend was full term yesterday and they induced. They had to do an emergency c-section today because the baby was in distress. He's about 4.5 lbs and is in the nicu. He's doing well and mom is doing well. Hopefully they will be able to come home soon. I'm really not a fan of hospitals so I'd rather wait to visit until they come home.
Happy to say everyone is doing better than yesterday. I can't wait until everyone is back home and back to themselves.
