US Destinations in November

I will be getting married in November of next year and am stumped on where to go for our honeymoon. We are not the beach type of people and would prefer some place that we can drive to in a day. We live in Cincinnati, Ohio and are having a wedding brunch the day after the wedding. So we won't be able to leave until 1 or 2. So preferably 8 to 10 hours at the most from Cincinnati.

We were looking at Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg originally but I have already been there and my fiance has been to Branson, Missouri which is around the same thing. We have now decided we want somewhere that neither of us have been before.

Sorry for the long post so what I am looking for is a US destination that would possibly have Christmas decorations up already, we will be going November 6 to November 13th. If not Christmas then a nice place in the US that has a lot of different things to see and do.

Thanks for any help you can give!

  • I live in the philadephia area.  There are alot of nice things to do around here and as the PP said it is only about 9 hours from where you live. We have center city which is full of awesome restuarants, bars, sights to see.  We have penns landing, boathouse row, phila art museum, libery bell, franklin institute all in the center city area. You can take guided tours aroung the city.  The bridges as well as boathouse row are lit up in christmas colors and there is a christmas village attraction in center city.  Right outside of the city in the New hope, PA area is peddlers village and the outlets.  Peddlers villages has many little cafe's and restuarants to eat at.  There is also christmas light set up all around this area.  A little further down the road from peddlers village is a strip of outlets.  There is Coach, Bass, Osh kosh, etc all in this area.  The heart of new hope which is main street also has many bars, stores, cafes etc.  Also outside of Philadelphia in the Main line Area is the King of Prussia Mall.  Huge Mall, tons of stores and restuarants. Right over the bridge in camden, nj is the Aquarium...you can take a ferry over i believe, but im not 100 percent sure.  Long story short, theres tons to do... good luck!!

  • The Pocono mountains in Pennsylvania!  Not sure how long you'll be honeymooning, but the Poconos are beautiful.  There are 'all inclusive' resorts (make sure you do the research - as with many others... they're not really all inclusive).  My fiance and I (live in Florida) are spending a few nights in the Poconos for our honeymoon.  It's also only about a two hour drive to NYC (and there are your Christmas decorations!  My suggestion for lodging in the Poconos - find a good B+B.  In about two weeks I can tell you about the one we're staying at (we're getting married in 10 days!).

Just reread your OP and saw that you'll be HM for a week.  I would def look into Poconos/NYC plenty of things to see and do in both places... good luck!

  • We are the same regarding the beach, so we're going to NYC- in JANUARY! I know, we're crazy, but so excited! We booked our flights two days ago, and will be booking the hotel tonight!!!
