Ceremony Decorations

Hi, our ceremony will be taking place in a church. Does anyone have any cheap decorating ideas. We don't want to spend a ton of money since we'll only be there about 45 minutes.

We used cardboard pew cones from David's Tutera line at Joann's, and put baby's breath in them. I cut out appliques from some contact paper I found in our colors, and hung them with black ribbons. Total cost about $20 I think.

We used two large flower arrangements on stands (it was an outdoor ceremony, but you could put them on the altar), then used those to decorate our buffet tables at the reception.   You could also do small flower arrangements on the aisles (maybe every other aisle), then hang these on the backs of some of the chairs at the reception.

Generally the ceremony takes up a lot less time than the reception does, and churches and other ceremony locations tend to need a lot less in the way of decorations.  I wouldn't recommend spending too much money on anything that can't do double-duty as a reception decoration.

  • How about two floral arrangements to be put on the altar (your Church might likely have pedestals) to create a focal point for the ceremony and any photos taken immediately following?  Don't forget to ask someone to bring the arrangements to the reception site once pictures are done.
