  Hi! First post! I just got engaged last week and am trying to secure a date & location soon... but am realizing I have a couple issues:

  - we IDEALLY would love a short(er) engagement, but Sept/Oct is a bit too soon for many reasons

  - ~75% of our guest list is from out of town

  - we would LOVE to have it in Seattle to show off how much we LOVE it here, but are hesistant to fly so many people in during the "ugly months"

  
  

  Any suggestions, advice or encouragement for Nov-April in Seattle weddings? Or should we just suck it up and wait a year or so??

  
  

  Any advice is appreciated!!

  I would wait a year.. only because it could be mad stressfull planning this so soon and because your OOT guests will definitely need the time to plan!! You COULD possibly get away with a fall wedding still though.. but like I said, that's just added stress :/
  I'd avoid November unless you know your family will happen to be in town for the holidays.. maybe an extension to Thanksgiving weekend could work in that case??
  It would take a lot of coordination, careful planning and clear communication with your guests, but it could work.

  Hi! I'm a Seattle bride as well, and over 80% of our guests are from out of town. I say— do it! A lot of our friends and family who will be traveling are considering this a 'destination wedding,' and are excited to see the PNW. As for "ugly months", there are a lot of places with worse weather during those months for sure— plus, Seattle is so hit and miss with weather anyway; it'd suck to postpone until a so-called nice month only to get a rainy day anyway. As a bride whose total engagement will only be about 5 months total, I can say with confidence that I've been BLOWN AWAY at how quickly one can plan a wedding. Organization is key, and deligation is a good idea, but seriously, you can stress about planning a wedding for a few months or you can stress about a wedding for a year and a half, and the result will be the same. My 5 months of planning are turning out to be ample time to create the wedding I've always wanted! (seriously, I've been trying to sell everyone I know on shorter engagements.) Hope this helps!
