Wedding Woes

opinionated people

How are you all dealing with people who think they can make decitions about your wedding or who ask questions and put you on the spot in front of other people ???
examples: a friend of mine said you better not serve your food buffet style be cause the last tables wont get any,  you better get servers .... ( thats exactly how she worded it & was kinda rude when she said it  & servers will cost us  600 extra  , we are paying for it all ourselves ) i had an aunt ask me in front of my mother if my mother is walking me down the isle , i had planned for my father to do so ( parents divorced) and my aunt also told a friend of mine she could sit at the reserved family table !!!!  is that not my decition ???? now i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place :(

how are you dealing with issues like these please help

After the initial seating people will probably move around to different tables.

Tell your friend with the oh-so-wise buffet advice when she gets married she can plan her wedding however she likes.

"It isn't up for discussion" is my favorite line.

First of all...It's "decision" and "aisle".

Secondly, stop talking to people who aren't paying for your wedding about your wedding.  If someone gives their opinion, ignore it and move on.  It's not that hard.

One thing I kept telling my slef is "It is my wedding. I am paying for it. This fits me and my fiance the best so we are going with it. Too bad for people who dont like."

Then after you tell the opinonated people that as well have a gladd of wine and put on your fav tv show, movie, read a book.  You should do somthing you enjoy after becuase it makes it a lot easier to deal with.  Also make sure you have people to back you up.  My parents, aunt and maid of honor will definatley say "it is her wedding leave her alone" and deal with them for me.  Make sure you have that too!

Tell them all that it'll be a surprise when they get to the wedding.  It's like saying "none of your business" but in a nice way.

I have never been to a buffet wedding where they ran out of food. But if your friend were my friend I would be making sure she gets seated at the last table served.

When I was pricing reception food served plates were actually cheaper than buffets.

Smile, nod and move on.  The people telling you this are rude.  It's okay to ignore the advice.

To Friend (with a smile): "You better be offering to help pay if you're gonna be making demands on things that cost money."

    To Aunt: No

To Friend that Aunt told could sit at your table: "I'm really sorry about my Aunt, she has nothing to do with planning, but I can promise you that you'll be at a table where there will be people you know / you'll have a lot of fun."
