Petal Pathway Question

Hi Ladies!

I must have a petal pathway for our ceremony!  But the price I was quoted is a little higher then what we were originally were thinking so I thought about looking into providing my own petals if I could find them at a reasonable price ... does anyone have any suggestions or know where on Maui to get bulk petals?  I haven't tried the florist that you go through when you buy from Costco but was wondering about other places as well.

TIA!
Robin

I was directed to freeze dried petals, specifically this page: http://www.petalgarden.com/freeze-dried-rose-petals.htm

I have personally not used petals (my own wedding is in over a year!), but they look like a good idea!

    Hope that helps...

I'm using fake ones from ebay, they were super cheap. I'm hoping the fakeness won't be so noticeable if they're just on the ground.

I'm not sure how much your florist quoted you. But mine suggested 2.5 bags for our aisle and the cost was $75. I'm sure that doesn't really help but maybe you can compare.

I do know other knotties offered prices in past posts but after searching I can't find them. I'm hoping they reply and can help out with ideas.

This is random, but i *desperately* wanted a fully covered petal aisle, and that's one of the reasons I chose Lanikuhonua... HOWEVER, my WC (Dianna HWAE) told me about a million times that I really should not have a fully covered aisle because ''the wind could be blowing and we (HWAE) are the ones that have to rake them up after the ceremony'' - I told her that I had my heart set on it, and purchased enough petals...we fought tooth and nail over this topic throughout my planning process (she kept bringing it up - why did I have to fight for that?).  anyway, wedding day was pretty windy, but not too bad... and low and behold, my aisle ended up barely 'lined' on either side with petals.  I knew this was her doing, as so many girls before me had a fully covered aisle at Lani with no problems at all.  This is a long story just to let you know that some wedding coordinators do not want you to have this, so please please make sure that yours is on board and wants you to have whatever you want on your big day!!!  Also, hopefully your venue allows it, too.  This was the one thing that I look back on and feel sad about (and since i know it is silly and petty, I think that says a lot about how awesome our day was regardless of the petal aisle, haha)... Hope yours is amazing!

    Lidsay sorry to hear...

We have a full petal aisle at Lani phase II. There was a lot of wind that day. But the WC didn't place them until right before I started walking. It was perfect. And only $75

Yep!!  Go to Safeway, they sell petals by the bag for cheap in their floral section!  I decided not to do the pathway cause it is expensive, but I did have my flower girl throw petals!

We opted for an orchid head pathway. My WC set it up right before I walked down the aisle (she had concerns regarding the wind too), but it worked out perfectly. It was full and lush and it felt great to walk on. She quoted us at $125 for white orchid heads. I believe there were about 400-500 of them total. She did have to clean them up but was able to put them back into the box and we took them with us back to the condo and had a lot of fun :)

We had 12 bags of petals, in order to get REALLY full coverage and a lining colour. Each bag was $25--just from our normal florist, Bella Blooms on Maui. White and peach roses.

<div>One thing to think about is your venue and their "rules".  For me, I wouldn't have to rake up natural petals, but if they were fake, I'd have to rake them all up.</div>

Thanks ladies!! I appreciate all the info :). I think we will purchase our petals separately and ask someone to help lay them out ... I just want the petals to line the pathway not even cover the whole thing so I'm thinking doing that ourselves is the way to go! Lots of stores and florists on Maui to choose from!
