Linen's (Long)

I never thought I'd see the day that FI and I are arguing over linens.

I recently decided to maybe change our Colour Scheme. Our original scheme was Grey and Purple. Our Girls were going to wear varying dresses of Grey, Grey & Purple and Purple. I had decided we'd have Purple Satin Table Cloths except the Head Table which would be Grey.

I'm now reconsidering the colours to be Teal & Silver. With this new scheme all the girls would be in dark teal dresses with silver accessories (shoes & Clutch).
With this new Scheme, I'm trying to figure out what to do with linens. Our linen supplier doesn't have Teal Table Cloths. Well no, they have one but its really bright and I don't think it would look right. So I was thinking it would be just fine to have white table linens and Silver Chair Covers and we could tie in Teal with the smaller things. i.e. Table Stationary, ribbons on the candles & favors. We'd have blue (not really teal but close) up lighting.

FI thinks this is ridiculous. We can't have the girls in teal and have no teal at the venue and he thinks walking into a room thats white and silver is boring and doesn't have the wow factor.

What do you guys think? Does it really matter if the girls are in teal and theres minimal teal at the venue? A friend of mine got married last summer and their girls were in mint green and this was how there venue was done up. No Green to be seen and yet it was still beautiful.
When I showed FI this photo, he agreed it looked nice. But the Pink was a greater contrast than the Silver would be.

So I showed Him this photo taken at our Venue.

He still doesn't like it. What do you guys think? Could we go with the table linens shown above (possibly without the grey overlay on the table) and still tie it into the Teal & Silver Theme?

  • You're overthinking this.   We didn't even HAVE colors, and everything looked amazing.  I agree with Retread about things being "matchy matchy."  Go with something you like and agree on (bonus if it's inexpensive).   White and silver would look great with anything.

  • Definitely over thinking. Teal tablecoths would be overkill in my opinion. We had white tablecloths and no overlays. Our colors were champagne, ivory, and coral, and we brought the color into the room via the centerpieces and the table numbers.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I agree! I definitely don't want Teal Table Linen's. IMO it would look like Teal Threw Up on my wedding!

I like the Silver... Its just convincing FI to like the Silver.

  • Teal napkins or napkin rings? Peacock feathers in the centerpiece? Teal vases? I like the white and silver but if your fiance is like mine, he doesn't have a lot of opinions so when he does, I try to work them in.

<div>Ohhh... I like the idea of Teal Napkin Rings! I would have never thought of that. We could do everything Silver Grey like my picture above then use Teal Napkin Rings.</div><div>
</div><div>That would be subtle enough but still tie it all together!!</div><div>
</div><div>A quick google search and I found these...</div><div>

  • i have to say-i think the way the fabric is tied onto the chairs in your OP pics is really sloppy looking. i'd probably skip it all together.

and not everything has to match. it only has to coordinate.

also-unless you're going to buy them for the girls dont make them have matching clutches. matching shoes are bad enough.

<div>Thanks for your obviously irrelevant input, Incase you didn't notice the subject line was LINEN's not ACCESSORIES.

But just to put your mind at ease. I have purchased the clutches and they will get to wear whatever shoe they want as long as its silver. Thanks again.</div>

  • If you/FI are concerned about tying teal into the table linens, I would suggest either table runners, overlays, or napkins.  Any of those would be a bit more subtle than the the whole table/all the chairs.

Sorry-i was too distracted by your erroneous use of 's to convey the plural of 'linen' to really notice what the subject line was. 's is possessive, not plural :)
