Bridal Stores

I finally bought THE dress last weekend!  I ended up with "Petra" by Sophia Tolli from Bridal Beginnings in Mt. Lebo.  I wanted to share a few of my experiences at stores for any girls shopping for their gown.

Bridal Beginnings:  B+  I didn't like them at first because the lady working with me didn't really seem to understand what I was looking for.  I'd say no lace, and she'd bring out an all lace gown!  Just as I was loosing hope and patience I said we only had time for one more dress and of course out came the gown I ended up buying.  It was everything I wanted.  Then, when I said I wanted to think about it my consultant was noticably annoyed.  (Sorry, it's kind of a big purchase!)  Afterwards I kind of felt like she did it on purpose, giving me gowns that were not what I wanted and then saving the best for last.  It worked and I went back 2 weeks later and bought the gown, but I don't like feeling like she was wasting my time with the other dresses and "playing me".

Exquisite Bride (both locations):  A+  I was very sad I couldn't eventually order my gown from either of their stores, but they don't carry the designer of my gown.  The sales consultants don't work on commission and it shows in a very good way!  They aren't pushing expensive gowns on you and the consultants work together and help one another.  Every time we went there the people were extremely kind, friendly, and helpful!  I highly recommend taking time to stop at one of their stores.

Alfred Angelo (McKnight Rd.):  A-   They are very kind here and really gave me that "bridal" shopping experience.

One Enchanted Evening:  C   I have tried shopping here for not only my bridal gown, but also high school dances and Prom and I've never walked out happy.  I've met the owner and she seems snobby and unhelpful.  Also, they didn't seem to have a lot of variety in the types of gowns in their store.

MB Bride:  C-  Now I swear I am not as high maintenance as this makes me sound, but overall I felt like the store was dirty.  I think I caught them at somewhat a bad time (end of a big sale), but nonetheless I was far from impressed.  The gowns I tried on were in terrible condition.  I know lots of girls try these gowns on, but they were all torn, dirty, and somewhat falling apart.  The changing room doors didn't close all the way so my mom had to stand in front of it, and my consultant had not mastered the art of helping get gowns on!  It usually took several tries before she could nail the "bridal dive".  I do have to say though that they had a LARGE variety of designers and gowns.

I'm sure other girls may agree or disagree with some of my reviews but those were my feelings after shopping!  Hope it helps and good luck!

I 100% agree about Exquisite Bride.  I had a wonderful experience there.  I haven't purchased my dress yet, but if it ends up not being a dress I've already tried on there, and it is a designer that Exquisite Bride carries, I will have them order it for me no matter where I find it.  They were friendly, professional, helpful, never pushy, and actually encouraged me to take some time to think about which dress was best for me before buying.

It's funny, I had a similar experience at Bridal Beginnings in Mt. Lebo...but I didn't buy my dress there because the consultant was just so nasty!  It was like I was imposing on her by trying on dresses.  There was no way they were getting my business.

I went to both Exquisite Brides...Gibsonia was very nice (the workers) but they were very understaffed.  In Monroeville, the workers there seemed kind of unorganized...like the phone was ringing for awhile before someone decided she would be bothered to answered it.  And I guess due to the fact they don't work on commission, the girl who helped me didn't really care about taking care of me as a customer.  Everywhere else, the workers were attentive and helped me in/out of the dress...here, it was just like, whatever.

I ended up getting my dress at MB Bride.  I started off looking @ Bridesmaid dresses and NO ONE helped us for literally 45 minutes.  Then, finally someone asked if we needed help, and once we were with an employee, everything went smoothly and I ended up finding my dress there too.

My BM dresses all came from Exquisite Bride. Whenever one of the girls goes out there to pick up a dress, they can't find my card with the information and balances due. One girl had to leave and go back another day becasue they told her the card was too lost for them at that moment. One of the dresses came in with the wrong color sash. When I said something they tried to convince me that a pink sash was purple. After I asked for a swatch of purple they finally admitted it was the wrong color. They did offer to fix it for free when I told them I would buy the material for the sash myself to ensure proper matches. I'm very picky about things like that. On the other hand, the one owner was wonderful. She helped me for almost two hours to find a dress. I kind of felt bad when I didn't order anything from there because she was so patient with me.

I also purchased my gown last weekend from Bridal Beginnings!  Since this was the first place I visited and my gown was the 4th I tried on (although I tried on more before going back to The One), I can't compare their service to other stores.  However, I will say that I had a wonderful experience!  Karen is was my consultant - she was terrific and very patient!  I had tons of pictures to show her and she really nailed down the looks that I was interested in seeing.  Even when I requested to try on styles that were similar to ones I said I didn't like, she gladly went and got more for me to try just to say I didn't like them.  I would definitely give them (at least with having Karen as my consultant) a thumbs up so far!

I've been trying to send you a private message, I was wondering if you ordered Petra in Ivory or white?  I purchased the same dress in Ivory, but I am now having second thoughts and not sure if I should have considered white.
