After party?

Did anyone have an after party?  What did you do (or think about doing) and who did you invite?

I'm thinking of having one but I'm not really sure what to do.  My FI suggested a bonfire with the WP to make s'mores and just calm down and have some fun time with just them but i don't know.  I like the idea and we could do it for cheap in our backyard and everyone could just change here before having the fire but I'm not fully set on it.

    Originally when our reception was going to end at midnight we were going to just go to the bar in the basement of our venue.  Then we just asked the venue to extend our reception time.  So now our reception doesn't end until 1:30am.  I will have been up since 7 am... and I am pretty sure I wll be finished at 1:30...So no after party for us!

    We're not having one; we'll be too tired anyway, but I also can't quite shake the feeling that it's rude.  In the same way that it's rude to invite people to the ceremony but not to the reception (or to the reception, but not for dinner), I feel like we'd be deliberately leaving people out.  Like we'd be saying "Thanks for coming, we've got your check, thanks for that.  But now it's time for us to go so that we can have the real fun with the people we actually care about and enjoy spending time with."

     If you put it out there that the party will be continuing at x bar/hotel/club, and that anyone who wants to is welcome to join in the fun, that's one thing.  But I feel like if you're going to go home after your wedding and invite others to come along with you, then you have to invite everyone for politeness' sake.  If you're not prepared to entertain that many guests, then maybe another time would be better for a get-together - even the next morning for brunch, or something like that.

    Our party ended at 1:30 am but our friends wanted to party after. So instead of partying in their hotel rooms and possibly disturbing other guest, the hotel just opened up a board room on a floor with no guest rooms. They let everyone stay until 4 am. They did not charge us anything for the board room, but we had the wedding at the hotel so I'm sure it made a difference. We did not plan this but we did show up for about a half hour. The following morning we had a Sunday Brunch, and I'm so happy we did that.

    We didn't officially host an after-party (our reception was done at midnight).

    We DID move on with whoever wanted to come (ended up being some coworkers and close friends) to the South University bar area on U of M's campus.  I loved showing up at college bars in my wedding gown - it was a lot of fun.  And plus, it was open to everyone, and didn't cost us anything.

    If you're going to do one, I'd suggest going out to a bar or something somewhere, only because if it's at your house, you're going to have to be up as late as the last person is there.  You never know how you're going to feel after, and if you decide that you'd really just like to sleep and have some alone time with DH, it's going to be hard to do that without seeming rude to all the people you just invited to your house.  If you're out at a bar or just out somewhere, it'd be fine (IMO) to hang out for a bit, then call it a night when you're done.

    We are not having fun. Main reason is because we are getting marries across the street form the Casino and I think most people including us will want to go gamble.

    Our reception is going to end at 11pm.  There is a bar at the hotel that many of our OOT guests are staying at.  We have suggested to people if they want an after party then we'll all hang out at the hotel bar after the recpetion.  No format invites, just word of mouth.

    </div><div>aaaaaaand we're not having one. I think the idea, and hey, we may feel totally awake and carry on the party to a local bar but nothing is planned. We're having a brunch the next day at my parents house with OOT guests and I just feel like with the RD Thursday, the wedding Friday, and then the morning-after brunch... I'll be ready for the HM!</div>

    We're not having an after-party because I know I will be totally pooped out by the end of the night! Our reception is ending at 12:30, btw. Plus, if people want to keep the party going, our venue has a bar in the lower level so people can congregate down there!

    our venue is a two story building that has a bar on the 1st floor. so our plan is if anyone still wants to party (which we're assuming they would) we plan to just take the party downstairs and finish up the night there. it isn't set in stone or an invite only thing. it's whoever wants to come, come... or go home if you're tired :)

    The hotel we're staying at keeps the pool open 24 hours, and it's 21 and over after 10pm.  So, we're doing the "after party" there.  The hotel suggested it....said to order pizzas from the hotel bar, bring in beer and we can party as late as we want.  It should be fun!

    Nope. I just want to be alone with FI afterwards!! Our reception ends at midnight and I think thats plenty of time to party.

    nope our reception ends at 11pm and we have to start getting ready to head to the airport at 3am to catching our flight to Puerto Rico...
