Monte Cristo Ballroom

Has anyone looked at or used this venue? It looks nice in its website but he one review we found made it sound questionable. We would look more ourselves but are setting this up from out of state so... Any information would be great... Thanks!

Re: Monte Cristo Ballroom

  • I have been to a wedding their and it is really beautiful. I actually wanted this place for my wedding as my first choice but when I found out that you had to use Brown's Catering (I think that's what it was called) and did some research on them I decided it wasn't worth it. The catering company had HORRIBLE reviews. So IMO, unless they have changed their catering company I would look elsewhere.
  • That is a good tip--thanks for the heads up!!!! I guess it is back to the drawing board

We've booked them for our August wedding.  We haven't had any issues with them at all, despite the reviews of Brown's.  We've asked questions and gotten responses.  The food is excellent and Chef Anthony is great!  He bought this venue which he's been renovating since last year.  We saw it back at the end of April so we saw it before a lot of the new changes/additions.  It's actually been a lot of fun to see it's changes over the last year.  It really is a beautiful venue and we really can't wait to get married there.

Something you might want to take a look at is the reviews on the website that people write after their event.  It's a form that they give to the Bride/Groom after the event to fill out, scan and post on the event.

If you want to ask me more detailed questions about the venue (contract ect) I'd be happy to answer via PM.

  • Hey! I looked into the Monte Cristo Ballroom and decided not to use them for my wedding. To be honest, I did find them shady. It wasnt until i had visited the venue and fallen in love with it (it really is beautiful. food was only so-so) that they mentioned the food/beverage minimum, which was thousands above my budget, which i had been clear about on all our email/phone interactions. It may be a great venue but I felt that they were dishonest (they made it sound like my budget would work with my guest count and meal ideas, which it became clear would never have been the case) and very pushy/sales-y. I completely crossed them off my list

thats my story, for what its worth. good luck on your search!
  • Check out the Great Hall at Greenlake, www.greathallgreenlake.com, a similar vibe, you can have whatever catering you want, and it's a block from Greenlake - PERFECT for pictures!

I'm getting married there on 6/30/12, and it is so beautiful. 30 foot ceilings!
