Waters Edge LIC bride

Hello!
My fiance and I booked Water's Edge in Long Island City for 9/30/11. I know there is lots of time but I would love to hear from anyone getting married or who has been married there. We live in the city on the UWS but will have a lot of family from out of town, hotel recommendations, vendors to use, any good tips??! Thanks in advance for any advice!
Cheers!

I had considered Water's Edge, it was actually 1 of my final 2, but we went with another venue.  Anyway, I had checked out the hotels close by and none of them were that great.  You'll have much better luck with the LGA hotels.  I booked a block at the Marriott on Ditmars and they have been great so far.  Good luck and congrats!

Our wedding is in Manhattan and Reception in the Bronx. I have elected against getting a block because half of our guests may do one of the following:

    1. Use points for hotels
    2. Stay with friends
    3. Want to buck up for a room and stay all week (better discounts)

There were no real hotels near our reception or a decent area and price for a Oct 2011 wedding.  We opted for giving suggestions on our wedding website as this will be less stressful for FH and I.

I had done a search a while ago for Yacht weddings... and Water's Edge came up because they have their own dock and boat, supposedly... When you met with them did they ever mention to you that you can have the reception in the venue and then charter the boat afterwards?
