It's the sound of our wedding breaking the bank.
I wrote a cheque for almost $6,000 as a deposit (also paid 1K when we first booked) for the catering/tables/chairs. It's only the first of 3 deposits.
OUCH.

Oh that hurts! I was taking a look at our budget and with the deposits and payments we've made so far, we've already spent $10,000. I freaked out when I realized that.

I guess it will make the final bill a little less painful, but it still shocked me. I'm glad I'm keeping track of all of this.

Same, that $10,000 I mentioned is my parents money, but it makes me feel really guilty. I try to save where ever I can.

mamma, a very funny way to approach such a depressing subject. Our total budget is $15k with $5k coming from FILs. God Bless them! Though if they hadn't contributed our guest list would have "missed" all those aunts and uncle's FI has no clue who they are oops. Still it'll be lovely. We are still sadly about $7k from our savings goal. Our catering bill (biggest one) is due 3 days before the wedding and while I'd love to pay it early I don't think our cash flow will let us. I did find out today though that going back to school part time qualifies me to defer on my undergrad loans. Want to pay the accrued interested so that doesn't build up but all in it saves me $110 a month. Nothing huge but it'll help! Eloping with a pretty dress would have been so much cheaper :-p

Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited about our wedding and I think it's going to be beautiful; it's just a crazy amount of money (and family bs :P)
