Serving desert...

How are you serving your desert/cake?  Are you serving it after dinner while everyone is still seated or are you having a desert bar so that people can pick/choose what they want to eat? 

I'd really like to have more than one flavor of cake at the wedding, but we also have a couple indian deserts for people to try too.  I'm wondering if we should serve them all to everyone after dinner or do a desert bar so that people can decide themselves what they want to eat...

    Oooh I hadn't thought of this!  I think I am going to have the 2 cake options served by the waitstaff then have a table with gluten free key lime petits fours on it for people to take it they want one.

    Oh also - if you're serving cake at the tables and have more than one flavor, are you letting the guests decide which flavor they'd like or are you just serving it, hoping they like what they get..?

    We're serving the cake - ultimately we decided to go with only 1 flavor (partially because of this issue).  Then there will be a sweets table that people can go and take from.

    I think if you were doing one flavor I would serve it.  But if you having multiple options I think I would just do a table.  But the one thing I hate is when they leave the cake sit on the table for hours (probably exaggerating) but it sits out for way to long and gets dry.

    We are having a cake table. We are having cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake. By having it at the table everyone can pick the flavor they want.
