Going to look at venues next weekend!

Mom is coming up next weekend and we are going to check out some venues. Did you ladies just know when you walked into the place that was the one??

Have fun!  And to answer your question, yes, we pretty much knew when we looked at the  venue that it was 'the one.'

I knew when I pulled into the parking lot that the venue we picked was the one!

My decision was very financially driven. We went back and forth between having few people but dream venue, or all the people and an ok venue. In the end we cut our guest list to half of all the people and a decent venue =). I am very very happy with our selection. I hope you feel the same way about yours =) Best of luck!

Ours was budget driven. We looked at 5 different places before we made the decision. There were a couple places that I loved but fell beyond our price range. It came down to pro & con lists about how we could get the most bang for our buck. HTH. Good Luck and have fun!

Same as FireDancer  ours was financial.  Everywhere we looked was too high or just over.  So we went with the best price and reputation of all of them and cut our 293 person guest list down to 236.

Now we just hope that we get 175-200 so we don't break the bank.

The venue we chose has all of the elements I wanted and it was the only one that had that so it made it easier.

We only looked at one venue and knew it was the one when we got there.  However, we had done a LOT of research before we went to go see it because we knew we were extremely interested before we saw it in person.  I researched reviews, talked to other couples who had gotten married there, and finally wrote and asked for their brochure and prices long before we scheduled a visit, to make sure we could afford it.

Good luck with your search, and most importantly have fun!

We knew it was the one - it was like the wedding dress for me. We looked at four different venues after cutting out the local venue where I grew up (my sister got married there, but it just didn't fit the vibe we were looking for). DH didn't want to go anywhere else after looking at the venue we chose. We cut back a lot to pay for our wedding, and we were blessed to have the additional help of our parents.

If you have to stay in a budget and will not be able to cut back, make sure you only visit venues that you can afford. Had we not been able to afford our venue and still visited it, I would have been let down so much. That said, there are some AMAZING venues in NH that are totally affordable, they just were not feasible with our church location (I refused anything over a 30 min. drive).

Yes, we knew it was the one.  However, we had looked at over 12 places before finding it, and we only ended up there because our first choice fell through.  We love it, are very happy with the location, and are very much looking forward to having our ceremony and reception there.  The most important factor was money. We're paying for it ourselves, and I refuse to go over budget.  I'll cut whatever doesn't fit in the budget.   So far, we're under, and I plan to stay that way.  Our location has been wonderful to work with as far as money is concerned. I told the manager that I don't want to waste money on things that aren't needed, and he's being fantastic to work with.

We knew it was the one when we got there.  We had researched some places ahead of time and heard good things about our venue and also, the prices were reasonable.  After meeting the staff and touring it, it sealed the deal for us. Have fun and good luck! Be sure to let us know which one you go with! :)

We have a rough idea of the guest list so far so we know we need a venue that holds 150 - 200 people (I will be fighting HARD to keep it under 200). We have done a bit of research online. The big thing for our wedding will be the food, which is where I'm planning on spending a big chunk of our budget. So here's hoping to finding a big enough venue with yummy food!

Ours was also due to budget and central to all our guests. I would love to get married in the mountains but it just wasn't realistic. Where are you looking?

Lake Sunapee Country Club and Fratellos in Manchester. We might also go to Mount Sunapee. I requested info from them, but I'm not sure yet.

The bride had her heart set on a mountain wedding and was not satisfied with any of the hotels, restaurants, or traditional venues in the area.  Living in Nashua, this meant planning a 'destination wedding' for a location just over an hour away, (to Jaffrey), but the bride always gets what she wants....even though the logistics and extra costs of transportation are a real pain.

Turns our Fratellos is out - we are too close to their maximum number of guests and I don't want to be squished.

We are all set for Lake Sunapee Country Club on Saturday. I found a venue in Connecticut (where I am originally from) that I fell in love with online) so I've requested info, so who knows, we may end up in CT!
