  It's what I call "color shifting".
  
  Here's another awesome blog that I frequent, and pretty much everything they feature has color shifting in the processing. I do a lot of this myself lately. It's very popular.  Here's the link  http://greenweddingshoes.com/
  
    Basically, there are effects that we photographers can choose to use. Think of it as filters. This modern look of muted colors really does romanticize everything very nicely. 
  
    If a photographer doesn't already know how to do this, then he/she may not be able to do it on short notice. Is has to be done tastefully, and with some experience,  but there are what we call "actions" they can get online that will do it within Photoshop or Lightroom.

     She's probably using TRA actions in photoshop on the photos.  If you like her style you should hire her and not try to get the person you have hired to mimick her style.  You'll both be frustrated and disappointed.  Like 70's hair styles, photos on goblets and this year fashion, a few years from now that particular form of post processing will look dated.  I would strongly encourage you to look for clean photography that captures the emotion of the day rather than a cliched look that will be outdated in no time at all.

  They are using filter software. Something like NIK and burning the edges. Very nice.

  
  

  Anyways, you can buy NIK color efex pro online but you need either, photoshop, elements, or lightroom to use as a platform. Your photographer probably knows this.

  
  

  Specifically, it looks like Plum Soda is using cross processing and maybe something custom... to get that cool red flare on some of their images.

  
  

  Your post is not annoying at all. It's a very thoughtful question. You found what you like and you need to make sure your photographer can deliver that.
