I have been thinking about our dessert table and would love to get your opinions.  We aren't having a wedding cake; instead, we are setting up a table with 2 different kinds of cake, a blueberry cobbler, chocolate fondue, and mlik shooters with cookies.  I have been playing with the idea of making or getting some cake toppers to put on the two cakes, or maybe to just have on the table.  If I put anything in the cakes, it would probably just be a little banner with our names.  Cute?  Weird?  Other ideas?

    Actually, I love the little buntings that are made and put on cakes.  They attach little strings with banners all along to two wooden dowels and put that in the cake.  You could put lettering on them to.  If you haven't seen pictures of this let me know and I'll find one for you.

    Another cute decorative thing I've seen is the paper pinwheels that people make and you can get a long rectangle glass vase (from michael's or joann's) and fill that with candy, rocks or some kind of filler and have like four pinwheels sticking out.  It's fun and whimsy.

    If you're looking for something more elegant you can make up a sign and frame it and have it say something like "A Sweet Ending to a New Beginning".  I've always loved that saying!  And I love the sound of your dessert bar.  YUMMO!

    I like the idea of little banners! That sounds super cute. :) It sounds like it would be something simple in a sea of dessert, which looks nice. Do you have inspiration pics?

    I just saw this (link) and might do something with this saying, which I think is a similar style to what chrispy was describing.  This (link) without the people is my initial inspiration.  I might do one "love is sweet" or a saying like that, and one with our names.  

    As for the chocolate fondue, our venue is just setting out a giant, heated vat of chocolate, no messing around with a chocolate fountain.

    Can I register for chocolate I can just inject into my veins?  Also, PSA: Ben and Jerry's Red Velvet ice cream is yummy and new (we got a thing of Gifford's mountainberry cheesecake yogurt for FI who is trying to avoid ice cream, which also seems acceptable).  

    plato, your cake question...I don't really have a concept of how many people could be served by various cake sizes, so I wouldn't notice.  I think a lot of people have the separate sheet cakes, and I don't see any issue with it.

    Plato, I think you'll be fine with the cake that way.  As long as people get cake, no one will care!  I promise!

    Here's a picture of the cake bunting I was talking about.  I think it's soooo cute!

    Ok, i have to confess that I'm obsessive about miniature things. This mini-bunting is FREAKING ADORABLE.

    How about small framed photos of you both?  Maybe one cake with baby photos and the other with your favorite photo(s) of the two of you?  You could also include wedding photos of parents and/or grandparents on the table.  Let us know what you decide......
