Non-Cheesey DJs???

Any one have good suggestions for a fabulous DJ? I really want to stay away from  the tacky, cheesey, tradional DJ - which is all I seem to be coming across. Nooo bad 80s music or the Chicken Dance for me.....

So far I've found DJ Your Way With Chris  and EBE Events and Entertainment. - any reviews on them?

Or any other suggestions?? I really appriciate any help or advice! :) Thank you!!

EBE DJ's are cheesy. They have one guy play the music and another guy who stands on a speaker singing along and egging people on to dance. Nothing is cheesier.

Give PJ Windle at Unforgettable DJs a call... he is FANTASTIC!  The first meeting we had with him he said... "I am not the spotlight, you are!  No one should be looking at the DJ!"

Read my review in the post below yours.  I used Joe Moser from DJ's Available.  He played the music WE wanted... nothing cheesy, the genre we wanted, from the time period we wanted.  He sometimes DJs at clubs, so he mixes songs well, which helped it all flow together.

DiNardo Bros are good.  YOu can customize exactly what you want played and what you don't.  Our DJ was John Strout and he did a fantastic job.  We didn't want any cheesy traditional stuff.  We had a "DO NOT PLAY" list of like 25 songs... chicken, YMCA, we are family, electric slide, everything.  The owner actually wrote "no cheesy sh*%" on our contract.  hahaha.  THey were great

I think my DJ, Matt, from Synergetic Sounds is fantastic.  He played my sister's wedding last year and was about as uncheesy as a DJ could be.

I recommend Synergetic as well. They are 100% professional and my experience with them thus far is that they go out of their way to work with you and accomodate your requests.

Jenny8245 - Which matt was at your sister's wedding? I'm using a Matt too but I know there are a couple with the company.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone!! :) Now that I have a good list here I'm going to start calling around...hopefully one of my top picks will have 9.10.11 free!

I also agree with Matt from Synergetic.  He DJ'ed my wedding and people STILL tell my husband and I how much fun they had dancing at our wedding.  They are a very classy company, they don't advertise at all during your wedding.  We loved Matt!  The cost for our wedding was about $1000 and that was for 2 DJs and we got a special they were running which if I remember correctly saved us about $200.

I used Mike Petretti, also from DJ's available. We couldn't have asked for a better dj. Like PP said, he played only what we asked for and always made sure we were ready for the different dances/events. We absolutely loved him, and DJ's Availble were great to work with before we even met with Mike to choose our music.
