Stressed about Photography

Ok, so I am starting to feel really overwhelmed and stressed about the photography for my wedding.  There are so many photogrpahers out there, I don't know which direction to go.
I like the idea of photobooth option with photography b/c I think it will be fun.
So far Studio 3 and Innovatory Photography are the only choices.
I am nervous about Innovatory Photography b/c it is a husband & wife out of their home.  Any comments about them?  Any other recs?

There are a lot of highly skilled photographers that work out of their house, so I would not discount one who does.

I have heard great things about Innovatory, and I know several of the ladies on this board used them for their weddings and engagement pics.

I went with Lisa Rice Photography. She is newer to the wedding business, but her images are amazing. I did my engagement pictures with her (pics in my planning bio) and she shot my wedding in March. I haven't received the pictures back from her, but I'll post some on here when I do.

We're using them! So far, Joe has been fantastic to work with. Have you checked out Innnovatory's Fb page?  I see your wedding is this September, have you checked to see if Innovatory or Studio 3 is still available because September is a popular month for weddings. Good Luck!

We used AdrienneBeth Photography for engagement pics and our wedding pics and loved her!  I definitely recommend her.  I don't recall her having an actual photobooth option though.

I am using blue martini photography and christin has been great so far.

I have heard nothing but good things about innovatory as well.  Shaleigh at ron wood photographed my sister's wedding and she also did a great job.

if your wedding is in september you need to get on it, though.

I feel for you.  I was in the same situation.  I also think (next to your FI) that photography is probably the most important decision on your wedding day.  It's all you're left with when the day is over.  Knowing that didn't help my stress.

Ask these photographers for links to complete weddings.  You don't want their "Best Of" collection.  You want an accurate idea of what you'll be getting.

Second, look for style.  Did you see more candid or posed pictures and preferred one over the other?  Do you prefer natural, processed, acid-washed, or other styles of editing?  How about the softness or sharpness?  Did they compose the picture the way you like it?

The last one is technique.  Was it focused?  Was there enough lighting and not any shadows from the flashes?

Then there's personality.  You don't want to hesitate asking this person questions.  They're there on the happiest day of your life.

And then of course money comes in.  (If only we had bottomless budgets.)  Don't forget to look at the number of hours you'll be needing.  Some photographers have packages with set number of hours with additional hours as add ons.  Others have unlimited.  When you break the cost down by the hour, then you can compare pricing more accurately.  For example, I recently saw a photographer charge $1900 for 6 hours and then another $2200 for 8 hours; the first is about $316/hr and the second is $275/hr.

PM me if you want a list of photographers I like for about the same budget as Studio 3 and Innovatory for benchmarking.

We used Innovatory for our recent wedding and I LOVED them. They are both great people and I thought the whole husband/wife thing really helped them work well together. We don't have our pics back yet, but we have a few teaser pics from the ceremony, as well as the photobooth pics. I'm really happy with them. I'll send you a private message with info on how to see them.

Don't be nervous about them working out of their home... they keep their costs down this way, and honestly, why would that matter? The important part is the pictures you get from your photographer, and that has nothing to do with working in a fancy studio! :)

Let me know if you have any specific questions about them!

Innovatory was in the running, but wasn't available for our date.  We ended up with Nathan from Fyrefly.  He is fantastic and I'm so excited for September!!

Others that I loved were STudio3z, Loft 3, Daphne Photography, and Amanda Egan.

I just went to a wedding Saturday that used Innovatory. They had a computer at the reception with photos taken earlier that day and from what I saw they were great. I'm looking into them for my wedding also!

Ok, so I talked to them yesterday and they said they were available for my date.  He sent me the contract, and after reading all of your guys post- I am going to book them.  Thank you for helping me out.  It makes me feel better that people have used them and they love their work.
Thanks girls- now I can relax for the weekend!
