up-lighting...worth it?

hi :) for those of you who had or will have up-lighting at your wedding...was it worth it?  what is the average price you paid?  i'm trying to decide if its worth it or not...i know it depends on budget and all of that but did people really notice/did you notice the difference?  I have a friend who said she didn't really notice it at her wedding...

    I had it on the trees at mine and loved it. Personally, I think lighting adds more to mood than flowers do, but it depends what you're uplighting.

    hee hee...keith will say it was totally worth it.  we paid $50/light and had 10 lights.  one vendor tried to quote us $4000 to do the room with ~20 uplights, galaxy stars on the ceiling, and a gobo monogram.  that was waaaaay out of our budget, especially since it was a last minute addition for us.

    my mom recently went to a wedding and was totally oblivious to the uplighting and chivari chairs they got.  since i was planning a wedding at the time, though, i totally noticed.  i guess it just depends on your audience...

    p.s. i think the uplighting and chair covers did  a lot to add ambiance to the otherwise plain ballroom.  did you end up going with the chair covers?

    and regarding the other post, we ended up getting our guestlist down to 230.  although we were inviting 320, we were pretty sure a lot of the out-of-town distant relatives wouldn't come...especially since many were just home for christmas.  we did look into changing to the derussy room, but it wasn't available...

    We added them to our dance floor area and I think it was totally worth it!  Forgot how much we paid though... sorry!

    thanks girls...i'm still toy-ing with the idea. i know that i would notice it and it would make a big difference so we're definitely in the "let's do it" thinking but we'll see if it fits into our budget. :)

    We had uplighting at my wedding last summer.  Totally worth it.  We got it from UNQ Rentals.  It totally changed the look of the room especially with the dim lights.
