Has anyone had their wedding or a big event at the Doubletree Wilmington on 202 or even the downtown DoubleTree? I'm trying to decide whether to do the package price per person which includes $18.50 bar credit per person when so many elderly, pregnant or religious people will be attending who don't drink. Just wondering for a wedding of about 150, if only half drink steadily through the reception, what would the estimated tab be if we were to close out the bar at the end of the night as opposed to spending the $2,775 flat fee?

average about 2-3 drinks per person per hour....& if u think only 1/2 will drink that many, divide it in half...then calculate the cost per drink (can be an estimate) if there's a significant difference, go for the cheaper...but keep in mind, if u run out of liquor, the party will die off..

I would suggest also thinking about other weddings that had the same people and see how many of them really drank. i am always surprised at how many people drink at least 1 drink at a wedding that normally don't drink.

Ditto Santorini- my grandmother NEVER drinks...except at her kids and grandkids weddings. And she went nuts.

We had 130 and they went hog wild. Personally, it's going to be so close in price, I would just go for the flat fee. Like Santorini said- so many people who don't usually drink have one or two at weddings. Even if they are elderly. And pregnant women, too, since it's not bad to have a drink occasionally when pregnant (and most would count that weddings as occasionally).
