Maybe this has been discussed before but what was the time frame between meeting, dating, engagement and wedding for you and your FI?

I'll start:

I met FI in seventh grade (1998). He wanted to date me and I told him no. He proceeded to tell everyone we were dating and I had to "break-up" with him to get the rumors to stop!

We started seeing each other casually in November of 2006, right around my 21st birthday when I was home from college for Thanksgiving break (both our colleges had a full week off for Thanksgiving).

I didn't officially start dating until November 27, 2010, four years later!

FI moved into my townhouse with me in March of 2011.

FI proposed on August 13, 2011. I was trying to get ready for bed as I was working a random day shift the next day and was stressed about it. I was really surprised (though I knew it was coming eventually).

Wedding date will be October 14, 2012. 14 months and one day from the engagement. We had originally hoped for a September wedding, but it didn't work out for our venue.

Fun!

Ok, summer of 2005, I came to CA to intern with my current company and met a ton of great friends. FI worked at said company and lived 2 blocks down from my apartment. He was dating a friend of my roommate/friend but we became friends through work. Years later he told me that he had a crush on me but shrugged it off because I was moving back to IA.

July 2006, move back to CA full time. FI still works at said company with me and we become better friends.

Early fall of 2007, while casually dating another guy (who was a tool), FI & I would hang out a lot. He made a point to come to the bar with me every Sat to watch my Hawkeyes play! (I don't know how I didn't pick up on his efforts earlier). After realizing the other guy was an idiot and how great FI was to me, the internal battle of whether to try dating a friend started.

Oct 20th, 2007, FI & I went to the Cal (his school) vs. UCLA game. So fun! (Met his parents at the game....probably shouldn't have done so much tailgating! Whoops, they still love me though). After dropping me off, he walks me in and we kiss!

Oct 22nd, 2007, we met at a yogurt shop to talk and have our "first date". This is what we considered our dating anniversary.

March 2009, FI was laid off from said company. This was a really stressful time since I still work there. FI couldn't find work for a year and a half. The silver lining was that I could finally talk about how I had a boyfriend! haha

March 2010, we moved into together, and a year later moved into our house.

Dec 25, 2011, FI came back to IA with me again for Xmas and waited until all of the running around was over. We went back to my mom's house (empty since she was at another Xmas), and said he wanted to catch the sunset. We walked into an adjacent cornfield and after a few minutes, he dropped to his knew and asked me!

Oct 20th, 2012, we will be married!!!!! 5 years to the day of our first kiss!

I met FI in 10th grade. I actually wanted to date him, but he said no because I was a little too crazy for him. I was a little too wild for his tastes I guess. We talked a little bit after high school but drifted apart. Then we started speaking again in July of 2009. We officially started dating in November of 2009. He proposed on 1/1/11 as we were just sitting on the couch watching TV. It just popped into his head to ask and he didn't even have a ring. He gave me his grandmother's ring for my birthday in February. Wedding is also scheduled for October 14th.

Spring of 2005, our junior year at a very small school, I finally become aware of FI, as he is one of four in a comedy group doing a big show on campus, and I know all other three of them but him. He's "the other (name of group) that I don't know." He says this is around when he became aware of me too.

August or September 2005 (I can't remember exactly), we met formally at a party at his house, now in our senior years. My boyfriend at the time and I went. He (ex-boyf) became quickly obsessed with FI, ha. We didn't really talk.

November-December 2005: My best friend (my MOH) and his best friend (his BM) start dating (they've since broken up, but everyoen's cool). Because of this, we hang out all the time: the two of them, FI and his girlfriend at the time, me and my boyfriend at the time. A lot of the times we hang out, though, FI's now-ex isn't around (she was the type who took on too much and was always too busy), and same with my now-ex (he was just a jerk towards the end, ha, and was probably off cheating on me), so it was fairly often the four of us. I in no way was thinking of FI though. I was still trying to make it work with my now-ex, and he and his now-ex were, I thought, such a good couple that he was totally taken.

January 2006: We all come back from winter break. I am pretty much waking up every day telling myself I need to break up with my boyfriend. My best friend (aforementioned MOH) tells me that while they're trying to keep it on the DL, FI & his girlfriend broke up. I don't make my decision on this, but do have the thought, "Huh, if they-- a GOOD couple-- are broken up, then what the hell am I doing?" I end up breaking up with my boyfriend right at the end of January.

February 2006: FI and I and our two best friends go to a party, and come back and hang out at my apartment. We hang out talking all night, and at the end of the night, he asks if he can ask me out. I say yes. A week later, we go out on our first date, and he kisses me. We decide to take things slow, since we both got out of long-term relationships so recently.

(March 2006?): At some point, we realize since we never were doing a good job of taking things slow and aren't seeing other people, we can officially call each other boyfriend and girlfriend. It even becomes Facebook official, ha.

April 2006: We say "I love you" for the first time.

May 2006: We graduate, briefly meeting each other's families, and then move home with our parents, about 500 miles away from each other, with the decision to stay together and both move to NYC closer towards the fall, after we can get jobs.

June 2006: I go to his town to visit him, and get to know his family a little better.

July 2006: I get a job in NYC, and move up here.

September 2006: FI still does not have a job yet, but moves up to start interviewing seriously and temping. He's staying with me and my roommate until he can get an apartment. We decide, though, that we'll live apart for a year, and then get a place together. (I know think on how fast all of this part went and it blows my mind, ha)

October 2006: (I think?) He gets a job and an apartment.

August 2007: We move in together, in the apartment we're still in.

January 2008: I decide I am ready to be engaged, and he is ready to admit he will be ready soon. This dichotomy is NOT FUN, ha.

...December 2009: He proposes. It was perfect, even if I had been a little over-eager for a little too long. Oops.

October 6, 2012: We will get married, close to seven years after our first date!

I met FI online through eharmony the week of Thanksgiving in 2008. We decided to meet on 12-6-08 for our first date. We were exclusive within a week. We dated and were engaged July 2011.

met fiance in may of 2007. He came to work at my place of employment as a temp. I thought he was all right looking (although he was a little roughed up from having a bike accident the night before) and nice to talk to but i was dating (unhappily) someone else. We became friends and 2 weeks later i was single. We saw each other at work everyday and being that we worked in different departments I convinced my boss that his department could really use some help lol. Long story short we became inseperable (but I had to hide it at first because he is such an intense man that my coworkers thought that he would become a stalker fofl) To be honest i kind of felt the same way

In September we started talking marriage-we even had matching wedding bands that we started to wear. November of 2007 we moved in together

Feb 2009 he proposed...finally!

After postponing a few times we are finally set to marry October 7th.

FI and I went to middle school together (1999-2001), but never really talked. We knew of eachother, but never really knew eachother.

2001- FI left the school system due to his parents divorce.

2005- Best friend and I randomly have about FI in the beginning of the week. Late that week FI came to a football game at my high school. I went to find my friend and FI, Best friend, and I stood and talked all of fourth quarter.

Oct 9 2005- FI messaged me on Myspace (you remember that one before Facebook lol) and invited me to his choir concert on October 11. After the concert we went on out to get ice cream for our first date.

October 12, 2005- FI and I made our relationship official

July 2007- FI and I move in together

Oct 13 2007- FI and I went out for our anniversary and he proposed at the same place we had our first date.

Oct 12,2012- We will be married 7 years to the day we started dating

Knew OF him through mutual friends in 2005, although we hadn't met face to face. He worked with the guy I was seeing at that time.

Began talking online in December 2008. Met face to face a friend's christmas party that month, and he brought his girlfriend and I was dating the same guy from 2005.

Both of us became single in January 2009, and decided to hang out one night in February 2009. Neither of us wanted a relationship, we were just having fun and 'flinging' so to speak...

March 25, 2009- despite all precautions being taken, our 'fling' resulted in a pregnancy. By this point we were boyfriend/girlfriend anyway, so it was just a shock but we were fine. Our son was born in November 2009. Over the next 18 months, we had our ups and downs, broke up, got back together- we both had to figure out what we wanted and if we should be together or not.

August 2011- Made the ULTIMATE step for us and got our first place together and talked about getting married. I joined the Knot (and this board!) then, although I didn't know if we'd make it or not.

Christmas 2011- Proposal! So here we are... Began as a fling and became so much more! We were expecting our second child in February 2013 but I lost the baby. I was due on our 4 year anniversary.

June 15, 2009 - We met on my first day of work. He Had been working here a few years before I started. The first thing that I thought was "Holy crap this guys is hot. How am I going to work with him?"

June 18, 2010 - Our first kiss.

July 9, 2010 - Our first date. We went to see the movie Despicable Me and had dinner at the Cheeecake Factory.

August 11, 2010 - We moved in together.

May 29, 2011 - We got engaged.

October 11, 2012 - We are getting married!!

I met my FI at work while I was dating somebody else. For a while we would just see each other during our lunch break, and at first we hardly even talked to each other even though we were the only two people in the room! That was the summer of 2008. I was rather unhappy in my current relationship at that point. I ended my previous relationship in early October and my FI and I started spending a lot of time together really quick. We had hung out a couple times as friends while I was still with PBF and there was a definite connection. We consider 10/22/08 to be our anniversary since we don't have a definite 'this day is our anniversary'.

We bought a house in 2009 and moved in on Oct 2nd 2009. We had already talked about where we expected the relationship to go etc, and had agreed we were both in this for the long haul. I told him that one day I would like a wedding, despite the fact that we had already made our committment to each other clear.

5/16/2011, on my birthday, we were near our old apartment to have dinner with my parents, and he drove us into the parking lot in the exact spot I used to park in, shut of the car, and proposed. I started planning almost immediately and by the end of the summer we had 10/6/12 booked as our wedding day

August 2004 - HS/College BF breaks up with me after 3 years - We decide to stay friends since we share ALL the same friends.

September 2004 - College starts again and trying the friend thing is going "okay". I meet my ex's roommates

September 16, 2004 - One of ex's roommates offers to host a party my friend and I were planning at his place because it's bigger - This roommate proceeds to get me drunk for the first time ever

September 24, 2004 - Ex's roommate and I kiss but decide to take things slow since we are both just out of long term relationships in which we were both "dumped"

October 8, 2004 - Ex's roommate and I realize that this isn't "just a fling" or "going slowly" - Make it official anniversary

October 13, 2004 - Now bf says I love you

January 2005 - Ex decides to suddenly give bf and I "silent" treatment - real mature - who broke up with who again? - only made bf and closer

... over 7 years later (finishing college, being laid off from work, financial issues in general, we remain commited and crazy in love) everything falls into place ...

December 18, 2011 - In 19 degree weather (I LOATHE THE COLD) - BF proposes - I ask if its really happening (not joke, literally my eyes went foggy) - He says yes and he's now FI

October 12, 2012 - 8 years and four days after "making it official" - We get to say I do.

March 28, 2008- met my FI at a college party, and realized we lived in the same apt. complex. We were inseperable from that point on ( I know its cheesy...but it's true!)

June 2009- Graduated college and moved in together while we completed our internships

June 2011- He popped the question!

October 20, 2012- We'll tie the knot!

My parents set his parents up over 28 years ago, so I had heard of him my whole life.

His father got killed in a car accident in February 2002, so the first time I actually saw him was at his father's viewing.

We ended up working together at the same super market in August 2007 I think?

September 2008 is when we started dating.

April 13, 2011 is when he proposed.

We'll be married on October 13, 2012.

Fun!!!

Early June 2005 - I went to a funeral with my friend, he went with his friend. Our friends knew each other. We went to Ruby Tuesday's afterwards for dinner and we talked all night and had way too much in common. We started hanging out almost every day, I didnt call it dating b/c he was not my type. I dated the bad/hot boys, he was a total 180, sweet and at the time not the hot guys I dated. Now, nothing compares to him...he is the hottest thing in the world to me. Ask all my friends, they rarely catch me saying a guy is hot bc I truly believe FI is the hottest man ever. I love him too much.

June 25, 2005 - FI asked me to go to a nice dinner. After, we went to a park on the water. We were standing there talking and dolphins started jumping in the moonlight, they were feeding...but it was soooo romantic. He asked me then if we could make it official...I hesitated, but agreed to give it a shot.

June 2007 - Moved in together.

March 3, 2010 - FI proposed. He asked if I wanted to go to a nice dinner. I was putting make up on in the bathroom. I walk out to find a top, in my jeans and bra, and he is standing there with a bag. He asked me to open it, and there was a gorgeous ring. And he asked. He later said he couldnt wait until dinner b/c he was so nervous. I wouldnt have it any other way.

October 20, 2012 - We get married!!! 7 years and 4 months after we started dating. Phew!

I met my FI online through Yahoo Personals in January 2006. At the time, I had just moved back to my moms place, and she didn't have internet, so I had to use the computers at the public library (lame). Searching through so many profiles, I came across his and decided to contact him. From that point on, we talked to each other online for a couple weeks, then it led to phone calls and texting. He lived 2 hours from me, so arranging to meet was kind of tricky with my work scheduling. We finally ended up meeting for our first date on February 4, 2006.
February 4, 2006...First date was at a Husker Basketball Game and dinner afterwards. We were inseparable after that. Right after I met him, I got an apartment closer to my job. From this point on, we had a long-distance relationship, I would drive out to his place every weekend, leaving on Friday nights and coming home on Sunday Nights. He would come out to my place during the week and stay a couple days. He is a country boy, living 2 hours away out in the middle of nowhere and I was living closer to the cities, and had a great job. First time I made the drive out to his place, I knew I wanted to be the one who made the move if we ever made the next step in our relationship. I fell in love with the countryside and him.
October 27, 2010....FI came over for for our Date night, usually Wednesdays. We were just hanging out in the living room talking about our day and right out of the blue he just pulled a pretty blue box out of his pocket, and proposed. He had said he was going to propose to me on the top of Cadillac Mountain at Acadia National Park in Maine a few weeks prior to this moment when we were on vacation, but we never made it to that point so he decided to wait.
Now that we were engaged, we still continued to have a long distance relationship, mainly because of my job that I didn't want to leave. I was watching the intercompany job postings, hoping and praying that something would come available closer to him. I didn't want to quit because the job market/pay scale is horrible out in the central part of the state, and I didn't want to lose all of my benefits.
October 15, 2011....A Job came available closer to my FI! I wasted no time getting my intercompany application sent in to corporate, and within a week the job was mine, I was so thrilled I lit up his phone all day. I was packed and ready to move to his place by October 30th, and started my new job on October 31, 2011.
January 1, 2012....started my wedding planning!
October 13, 2012....I get to marry the love of my life.

Sorry so long, I tried shortening it up some, lol.

August 2007 - We met helping with freshman orientation at our college. He got my email so we could talk on MSN (you know, that messenger before Facebook chat). He would message me so often that I would appear offline or set it to away to avoid him! Lol.

March 2008 - After Spring Break we start hanging out regularly.

April 2008 - We have our first date and first kiss and officially start dating. Me, the day after our first date "So, what are we?" FI "People." He's a fan of the obvious.

January 2009 - Start our soon-to-be normal long distance relationship when FI goes to DC for a semester.

April 2009 - FI flies back from DC for our one year anniversary to surprise me!

May 2009 - FI comes home from DC. I spend the summer 4 hours away from FI working with flood recovery efforts for the summer with Americorps.

August 2009 - Back within 30 minutes of each other.

January 2010 - I head to DC for a semester.

May 2010 - Back within 30 minutes of each other.

February 2011 - FI proposes!

July 2011 - We move in together.

October 6, 2012 - Our wedding date!

August 25, 2005 - FI and I meet at freshman engineering orientation day. Few days later he messages me (via aim) and we set up a tennis date after talking for 3 hours. We spend the next week together until he has to go home for Labor Day weekend (also my bday weekend).

September 7, 2005 - He officially asks me out and have our first kiss.

November 2005 - First I love you - standing at the bike racks by my dorm.

August 2007 - I study abroad for a semester in Italy; he comes to visit over Fall break.

May 2010 - We graduate grad school and he moves ~1 hour away for his job. I move back home and look for a job. I finally found one in October and we live apart for a bit, spending every weekend together, which becomes very draining.

May 2011 - We move in together. I proceed to become even more antsy about getting engaged.

November 21, 2011 - He pops the question (finally)!!

October 19, 2011 - After 7 years together, we're getting married!

Here's the whole story:

Late May/early June(?) 2010: After a semi-disastrous attempt at dating my co-worker, we broke up and I decided it was high time I gave online dating a try. I joined OKCupid first, rationalizing that if it turned out to suck, at least I didn't have to spend any money on it. FI was one of the first people I started messaging with. Shortly thereafter, I went out on my first date with someone else from the site and it was awful, LOL.

June 14, 2010: First date with FI. We went out for coffee and ended up lingering in the Starbucks and talking until it closed. He tells me he has action figures of my favorite superhero in his cubicle at work. The thought immediately crosses my mind that I'm going to marry this guy. I promptly chastise myself for being crazy. Who knew?

June 30, 2010: FI earns extra new-boyfriend brownie points by surprising me on my birthday. He showed up unexpectedly with flowers and a gift.

I think July, maybe August 2010?: We go exclusive and deactivate our respective OKCupid profiles.

September 2010: While completely drunk at his birthday party, FI tells me he loves me. I ask him to say it again when he's sober. He does.

October 2010: I somewhat unintentionally end up meeting his parents when we drive up to help his mom look after two kids that Child Protective temporarily removed from a family friend. Most interesting mechanism of meeting the parents that I've ever heard of.

November 2010: We more planfully drive out to my hometown so he can meet MY parents. Both sets, LOL. He later refers to this as "running the gauntlet".

May 2011: Since both our leases are ending and our respective roommates have decided to move out, we move in together. Our respective furbabies meet their new step-siblings and are less than thrilled.

June 2011: We start talking marriage and conclude that it's what we both want, but we still want to wait awhile before getting engaged. Apparently his definition of awhile is different from mine, because...

July 2011: He secretly meets with my parents and asks for their blessing to propose! I was not supposed to know about this, but my mom was derpy enough to write it on her calendar and left it in full view when I came to visit.

September 2011: FI buys a ring and tells EVERYONE that he's gearing up to propose. I am left entirely in the dark.

October 1, 2011: FI pops the question! He does it at home on a Saturday morning, by making me play a hacked Super Mario video game. He spelled out 'Liz will you marry me?' in question mark blocks.

June 14, 2012: I'm throwing this in because it just happened - Our 2 year dating anniversary, and just over 1 year living together!

October 6, 2012: We're getting married!!

February 2004: My best friend (who happened to be FI's cousin) set us up. We met at her house, went to the park and threw a softball around. Afterwards we went to the play at our high school (don't remember the play off hand).

March 1st: officially had our first date.

August 2004: went to Pittsburgh for college. A few months later, he used my friend (one of my BMs) to get him to surprise me. I came downstairs looking a mess since I just woke up and found FI standing in the hallway :-) He drove 4 hours to come up and see me.

August 2005: moved in with FI.

December 2005: went to Paris and Amsterdam with him and a few friends

July 2007: talked about getting married and having kids, but wanted to get settled down first (out of school)

January 2010: went to the DR with him.

July 2011: asked my mother for my hand in marriage since my dad wasn't home at the time. Also got insight from what she thought would be the best way to propose to me. (Public with lots of pics)

August 2011: Took my lil' sis to NYC. She was carrying the ring for him so I didn't get suspicious. Walked for a few hours, but found City Hall park. FI asked for a picture in front of the fountain. He was on one knee asking me to marry him

October 13, 2012: We're getting married!

Our Story

A little over 2 1/2 years ago (feb 2010) I came accross this handsome young man (Thomas of course) on a social networking site (like facebook) by chance... I was looking to add "friends" to my list so was surfing randomly through some profiles when I saw his photo and said Hmmm that looks like someone I could spend the rest of my life with (jokingly)...so I "friended him".

His status said something along the lines of being lonely, so I being me of course, wrote him a message saying Awww someone needs a hug... that got us talking, we exchanged quite a few messages lol, then MSN id's and discussed getting together for a coffee and that hug!

I knew there was something special about him the moment we started chatting a flow of eletricity, a tingle, a connection, . I know sounds far fetched and people say NAH that doesn't happen...a few weeks later I happened to be in Ottawa where we met up so I could give him THAT HUG, and when we hugged, I knew my life would never be the same lol and well life has never been the same since... he purposed on our 1 year anniversary and now we are eagerly looking forward to our happily ever after together

I never thought I would meet a man such as him, and I did, and I have NEVER been happier... as I once asked him WHERE have you BEEN all my life? His response... In Gatineau, Hmm who would have thunk! I may have had to go to HULL and back to find him but I did... (Hull is a town in the province of Quebec where I live) so that is the family joke now I had to go to HULL and back to find the right man but finally I did

Feb 26th 2011 as we were out celebrating our 1 year anniversary after supper he asked me to marry him...

Moved out to Gatineau (from Montreal) September 2011

wedding date is Oct 6th since we both love the autumn, and it is thanksgiving weekend here in Canada gives the chance for our family to come as well and have an extra day to relax after the wedding...
