Reception dilemma! Please help!

Hi! I've never posted before, so here goes nothing...

I am trying to find a location for next Fall (late Sept. or early Oct.) that will hold about 150 people.  I am hoping for a Saturday night but would be okay with a Friday night.  It could be indoors or outdoors- I don't care.  Here's the catch:  it needs to be cheap, it needs to allow outside catering, it needs to be in the Ventura County/San Fernando Valley/Malibu/Los Angeles area, and hopefully it has a curfew later than 10 or 11 p.m.  (also, if it had a ceremony location at the same spot- I would be so happy).

I am having a hard time finding this location.  I am convinced that I have looked at every wedding location website in So Cal!  So far the only places that meet my requirements have site fees that are over $5,000- which is a little too much for me.  I really need some suggestions! Help!

I do not know what it costs.  It might be expensive - but I was just at a wedding like you describe where i know she brought in ALL outside vendors.  It was in malibu - called saddle rock ranch.  Good luck!

It might be a little too far south for you, but I am getting married at The Plaza at the Cabrillo Marina in San Pedro. It is all do it yourself except that they have tables and chairs. They have a huge lawn and patio outside and a fountain area plus a room inside that holds around 120 people. They were a third of the cost of anywhere else we looked, from Santa Barbara down to San Diego.
It does get windy at sundown, just to warn, but it is gorgeous. The people there are really friendly and laid back, too - really easy to plan with.
    Good luck!

I'm having my wedding reception at The Plaza in May 2012 and was wondering if you could share how you decorated the room. I'm also looking for party help (bartender/clean up crew). Who did you use? Any feedback is appreciated.
