rehearsal dinner

Where is everybody doing theirs? There probably have been a million posts about this, but I am curious. We have a long list that needs narrowing.

We're having ours at the Lodge in Walnut Woods State Park.  They have a great renovated space, a large working fireplace, outdoor patio, sand volleyball and horseshoe pits.  Because of the large guest list, it was a nice space to be able to spread out.

We're having it catered through AfterGrace BBQ out of Altoona (Coffee Barn).  All of his smoked meats, bbq sauces, pickles he makes himself.  They're amazing and he has great prices.  The only drawback is that we have to pick up the food ourselves, he doesn't do on site.

    Beer & Wine we're getting from Costco/Trader Joe's.

This is a sore subject in my house! We were going to Okoboji for it, but then FMIL decided she wanted to cook. I'm game for that so now we're waiting to see if we can get this place in Clive. It's by their water park but it's nice, $150 to rent and it has a kitchen!

We're having ours at Legends because it's blocks from our venue.  You'll get A-Z answers on this - some more formal restaurants, some more laid back, and some pizza and backyard.  It's really whatever you want.

We are doing ours at Mama Lacona's in Urbandale.  We are doing their pizza pasta buffet.  I didn't want anything too formal the night before, and this is really close to our venue.

I am still deciding but there are chances that we will go with the Santa Maria Bistro even though our reception will be in their reception hall. I am getting married in a very small city and I am very, very picky with food, so I better go with something that I know and like. We will be doing pasta and pizza as well.

Ours is going to be at Felix & Oscars in West Des Moines. We really picked it because of their prices - totally in our budget! We'll do a pizza and pasta buffet. I would've preferred something like Biaggi's or Johnny's Italian Steakhouse, but sometimes budget wins! But I still think it will be really yummy!

Our wedding is Labor Day weekend.  We are planning a BBQ.  Hot dogs and hamburgers.  We were going to do this for our wedding but I decided I wanted a nice dinner for our reception after all.  So now its just a casual get together for our rehersal instead.
