Wednesday!

I am sooooo glad it's the middle of the week!  How have y'all been?

I've got the day off.  For the morning, I'll be at a continuing education center helping administer the PSAT, and then I took the afternoon off to just get stuff done (and preserve my mental health).  And apparently H is coming home early so we get to spend the afternoon together.

I didn't watch the debate last night, but I got plenty of commentary via Facebook.  Now I'm watching "highlights" on the news and it's putting me in a stinky mood.

Re: Wednesday!

  • I'm in the waiting room at Labcorp, and Iam now cranky bc of fb too! This girl, H's friend, is always posting annoying stuff, but today it's a whole new level. She is mad bc Romney thinks people should be married before having babies. What a loon. Studies consistently show that kids with unmarried parents are far more likely to live in poverty, suffer abuse, etc. Can't figure out how to hide her on FB so I need to unfriend her.

  • I'm having a really rough week at work, we have a huge project that has to get out the door tomorrow, but we don't have all the information from the client yet!  I've been super stressed about it since last week, it totally overshadowed my weekend and is killing my pre-wedding high.  I just want it to be over so I can enjoy the next 17 days (and maybe get some sleep too)!

  • work is a zoo.

caught the debate last night (first one all season!).  the moderator was terrible and she gave obama more time to talk than romney (44 vs 41 minutes, but it was pretty obvious IMO as the debate went on that he was getting more).  she was just a bad mod - had zero control and made her allegiance to obama quite obvious.

we had an earthquake here in the NE - but i didnt feel it, although everyone around me did!
  • I didn't even know there was a debate last night until I saw all the posts on FB today - I normally don't follow politics much anyway, but especially the last few weeks my upcoming wedding has been my main focus.  FI and I were up pretty late last night printing programs and namecards, but it was good to just get it done.

Calypso - wow, an earthquake?!  For some reason I never thought of those happening in other parts of the country besides CA, that's all I've ever heard of before.
  • We have earthquakes here.  Usually you can't feel them, and they do little to no damage for the most part.  We're on a fault line, but it's not super active.  I think NE is on the same one.  We had that earthquake in 2011 that was from DC to NYC, right?  I've only ever felt two earthquakes, though.

  • yeah, it was 20 miles west of portland, maine.

Not a fan of the debate last night... I think I yelled, "Shut up, you idiots" at the TV about every 5 minutes.  This article, although it refers back to the respective party conventions seemed to effectively sum up my frustrations... here's my favorite quote:

"The two political parties want slightly different things from the Church.  The Republicans want control of the Church's moral voice so that they can use that voice to win elections.  The Democrats, who have given up on using the Church's moral voice, want to silence the Church, and, as much as possible, strip it of all its ministries.  Both parties want to bend the Church to their purpose and their will.  The Republicans want to do this by patronizing the Church... the Democrats by attacking it.  The result in both instances would be to slice and dice the Church down to an equally voiceless political carcass to be fed on and ignored."
  • I missed the debate last night, but between the news the morning and my FB feed, I'm freaking sick of it all. I would very strongly like for one candidate to win, but I really am not a fan. I'm so sick of it all at this point. Ugg...
