officiant

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction - the pastor of the church my fiance and I have been attending will not be in town on our wedding day. He said he could recommend someone to us but rather than meeting a stranger, someone mentioned to me having someone we know become "ordained" or whatever it takes to be legally allowed to perform weddings and I was wondering if this was possible to do online in CT?

It is my understanding that CT won't recognize a marriage performed by someone who was only officiated for that purpose/event. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

yup, ggmae's right.  we looked into doing it too...the only option is to get married before, and then just have someone you know do a ceremony for your friends/family, even though it isn't the "official" one.  i know it stinks :(
