Help! we need a venue for our reception

We decided to move up our date to April 2nd and we still need a venue for our reception. I am looking for somthing that is big enough for 200 people and will allow for us to do byob or purchase our own liquor.

Both my fiance and I are not from San Antonio and we really haven't had any good suggestions and my planner is no help.

I was venue shopping over a year ago but these were BYOB when I looked:

    Hacienda Santa Maria
    Witte Museum
    Museo Alameda

I'm trying to find a venue for December 2010, so don't feel bad. Are you set on downtown or open to hill country/suburbs? Ceremony and reception in one place?

The Scottish Rite Temple lets you buy your own alcohol, but you have to use their caterer.  It's in downtown SA.

Aggie Park lets you bring in your own alcohol and your own caterer.  It does have an Aggie theme, but you don't have to be an Aggie to rent it.

    Good luck!

I personally already booked Hacienda santa Maria.. you have to use their food/restaurant.

Alcohol..we are doing kegs during the reception. they said we are buying all the drinks sodas at sams then giving them away at the wedding...free drinks.

The AT&T Community Centre at San Fernando is downtown, large enough to hold 500 guests, fairly reasonable to rent and you can purchase liquor for an open bar or if your guests want to byob they drop it with the bartender who records who it's for. Then you can have them make your drinks using your bottle. I've been to a reception there and would have used it myself except I didn't want to use it since a family member had used it already.
The only negative I saw was that there wasn't much free parking, but if you want your reception downtown then you already know your guests will have to deal with the fun of parking downtown in San Antonio.

    Good luck!!

Some suggestions are San Antonio Central Library, Landa Library, or Koehler House.

You need to call the planner we used The Wedding Studio, they know where every venue is it seems, they will definitely find you one.  We found a private estate, hang in there, yours will be the perfect place like ours was.
