  Anywhere from 6-9 months, depending on when your wedding is. If its near a holiday, is a destination wedding, or you have a ton of OOT guests then go longer more towards then 9 months, if its more standard then go closer to the 6 month mark.

  I agree with PP...
  I sent mine at the 8 month mark because I wanted to let people know before they made summer vacation plans.

  As others have posted, I think 6-9 months is the appropriate time.  We gave many of ours out much earlier though, almost one year before.  We passed out our STD magnets at the engagement party in August 2010, and then mailed others out around the holidays.

  Ditto PP's.  I'll be sending mine out around 8-9 months before because all of my guests are OOT, and 6 months before is the Christmas card & gift rush.

  We did 6-7 months before, I think.  Many of our families had verbally heard the date, so I thought 6 months was plenty of time.
