Tipping Chart and Question

This was posted on my month board and I thought it was helpful
http://iloveswmag.com/2012/03/28/southern-etiquette-tipping-wedding-vendors/

Although a lot of the time it mentions not tipping the owners of the business. Most of my vendors are business owners and i feel bad not tipping them so I probably will, especially my MUA and DJ and stuff. IS that what most people do???

Re: Tipping Chart and Question

  • What a great article. Let me speak from experience...

As a photographer and owner of my company and it's rare that I am tipped. I would say 10-20% of the weddings I do a year tip but when they do it always is an incredibly nice gesture. (And pretty exciting.) On the same note, the thank you notes I recieve after the wedding are just an amazingly wonderful gesture and mean so much. I actually have one next to me right now - I never throw them out.

I certainly do not think any less of couples who have not tipped or sent notes, but the ones who have I feel like I could name off in a list and make me feel warm and fuzzy when thinking about them. Is a bride to be - I plan on taking from this personal experience and at the very least making sure the vendors I have enjoyed know how much I appiciate their work, whether it be thanks you notes, or tips.
  • Wow! i am surprised to hear that you are rarely tipped beacuse I feel like a photographer and the DJ are the two people I would certainly tip on the day off, even if they owned their own businesses.
    Good to know!
