Halloween plans?

I'm so excited that my FI will now be home for Halloween, but now I have no idea what we will be. I have a couple skankalicious costumes in my closet from college, but I'm really over that. I want to be something funny or cute now. But we have no money for new costumes, so we will have to get creative! I also don't know what we are actually going to DO for Halloween. Go out? Stay in and hand out candy?

So, does anyone have ideas for costumes that you can put together from regular clothes and household items? And what are you doing for Halloween (costume-wise and plans-wise)?

We'll be stayin in and handing out candy on the actual day.. I don't know many people that will go out on an early weekday to party for Halloween hah

This Saturday we're hitting up Seattle though.

I saw on the Today Show yesterday a couple that just painted card board boxes like a giant "nerds" box when they stood together, and wore big dorky glasses and whatnot.. it was cute.
Last week I went to our OSC meeting and we were supposed to dress up so I grabbed and threw on all my jewelry and held a shovel (gold digger)

I am going to a party on Saturday night at a friends house.  We are going to be Laverne & Shirley since we have basically been joined at the hip since our first year of college. We are trying to talk her boyfriend in to going as Carmine Rago.  HAA We will see.  We wanted to do Patsy and Eddie from Ab Fab but didn't have enough time to get those together.

One year I went as a tornado and wore a grey sweat suit and glues cotton balls and farm animals on me.  The animals were on string so I would spin every so often.  It proved to be vey funny as the night and drinks wore on.

Edit- I also went as a Black Eyes Pea.  I wore a light/khaki pants and shirt, painted one of my eyes black and wore a pea on my shirt.

FI reallly wants to go out or have people over the weekend before, but I'm tightening the purse strings on that one. Funnily enough, what we count as our annniversary is Nov. 1 (he says the 1st, I say the 8th, bah), so we'll probably do something then. We carved our pumpkins last night, so we're lighting them up and staying in on the night to hand out candy.
Does anyone else's city do "Halloween" on a different night than the night? I'm kinda worried about that, we'll have a few things here over the weekend, but I don't know if we'll be home during trick-or-treat time, and I'm not intending to leave anything out. I can't find anything on the city website, so Halloween night it is.

I have never been a fan of Halloween, plus I have class that night so I'll probably just go to class like normal. Might have a skype date with FI watching scary movies. I donno, he goes to sleep early and we are in different time zones so when I get out of class he is getting ready for bed. :( Working days or working nights we STILL can't get on the same schedule! haha!

Divine- my city did trick or treating a different night last year because it was on Sunday last year(um..okay? Doesn't make any sense).

We did Mario & Luigi last year - bought overalls for like $10 at walmart, a green shirt for him and a red shirt for me, and pageboy hats online for $10 each plus a little felt and glue to make the "M" and "L".  They were really cute!

This year I don't know what we'll be yet.  On Friday, we have FI's promotion ceremony.  Last night he told me that the General who is doing his promotion ceremony asked to do it at 5pm, which is before I get off work, so that I wouldn't be there.  I started crying a bit, and FI called the General and asked if he could push it back to 6pm.  I asked my boss today if I could get off an hour early since "Fi is getting an award at school" and he said yes.  So I should be able to make it after all, yay!  I felt like such a baby crying, but it was really disappointing as I didn't get to pin on his butterbars at his graduation - I let his parents & sister do that, so I have been really looking forward to doing it this time with his shiny silver bars.

On Saturday, we have a pumpkin carving event with friends and then my cousins' annual Halloween party.  My Mom's 2nd cousin is the closest family I have down here, but he and his wife have really taken us under their wing.  She has a HUGE family, so it's always a lot of fun - tons of kids, games, etc.  I think FI will go as a clown, and I'll probably go as Little Red Riding Hood.  Way to pull old costumes out of the closet!

We were supposed to go to a Halloween party with H's association from the command, but the date got changed and now he has duty the night of the party so we can't go.  We were planning on being the Maitlands though from Beetlejuice.

Ohhh Binx, look who's not a noob anymoreeeee! :)
FI and I stay in on Halloween with scary movies, and pass out candy. We like to give the full size bars, so we're pretty popular lol. Saturday I am supposed to go out with my BFF, and I think I will be a Voodoo Doll. I have an old dress I made about 3 Halloweens ago in where I was a broken porcelain doll, and I am just going to use that same dress, throw some burlap and a heart with a pin through it, and do cool makeup. Done and done!

FTL- The Nerds idea is halarious! Especially because we ARE nerds :) Crown- the tornado would be fun! I like spinning! Divine- I love the pumpkins! I looked up our city's Halloween activities. Its on the actual day. But if you are over 12 or are found trick-or-treating past 8:00, you get a misdemeanor!! Oh Norfolk... Amanda- Halloween is my favorite! Which explains my love for "Hocus Pocus" and getting a black cat and naming him Binx :) Hope you can skype! Cali- Mario and Luigi would be fun! We really don't have any money to buy extra supplies to do something like that. And no time to make sweet projects. I bet you guys looked awesome! Beach- that movies STILL freaks me out! That would've been an awesome costume though! Next year? So, I looked through my closet. I can be: * a school girl (it's pretty tame, the skirt is knee length and the shirt isn't that low cut, and I can wear and undershirt) * a lumberjill (jeans, plaid shirt, fuzzy boots, pigtails) * if I can find an undershirt to make my slutty Little Red Riding Hood costume PG, I think I could make it look like a witch

That sounds REALLY cute! And your Halloween night sounds perfect! :)

My FI won't be home in time and most likely won't be home for next year's either. :( But I am going to two friend's parties. I'm going as a Frenchmen. The striped shirt, baret, baguettes, drawn on mustache, and a cigarette. :)
