venue help please!

this is a little off topic but not really. im trying to decide what to go to school for. ive always loves weddings since i was a kid (what little girl hasnt ) i am really considering owning my own wedding venu. buying out a big empy building and turning it into the ultimate wedding venue with multiple venues in the building its self. i know trying to find the perfect venue is hard. its either beautiful but too expensive or its just the right price but not exactly what you had in mind. im just trying to get an idea from brides or any one else in the wedding party of what they think. how big are wedding venues still or are people just trying to do their own thing? any input would be very appreciated. thank you!

    </div><div>Here is my advice:</div><div>
</div><div>1) Go to school for business if you'd like to own/operate a business someday.</div><div>2) If you really want to run a wedding venue someday, get a job at one now to learn the industry.</div><div>3) Come up with lots and lots of money - unless you already have it.</div><div>4) Do tons of research about the wedding/event industry in the area you'd like to operate. You do this not by asking brides-to-be on an internet forum, but by speaking to business owners who are already doing what you want to do. </div><div>
</div><div>By then... maybe you'll have a better idea of how to make this happen. </div><div>

  • I agree with everything PP said. If you have no formal business education it could be very difficult for you. I would 100% recommend getting a job in the wedding industry to really learn the ins and outs of making a wedding run smoothly (not just the day of, but the entire planning process). Try to do something with a lot of client contact.
