Wedding and reception location that doesn't force you to use their vendors...

We were looking for a reasonably priced place that would allow us to have our wedding and reception but doesn't make us use their vendors and caterers. I would like it to be a nice place, maybe a outdoor location. We would like to provide our own food, drinks, and music. I can't find anywhere...

  • How many people?

    What's your budget?

    Any particular geographic area?

We were married at Greenmead Village in Livonia, an historic village with a chapel and banquet facility that holds up to 100 people. You can bring in any vendor you like, plus buy your own alcohol and bring that in too.

If you go to the bio link below in my signature, there is a tab for "vendors" and the contact info is there. The photo link also has pictures from our engagement shoot there in October, and our wedding last August.
  • If you really want outdoor I would suggest looking into parks. I know the huron metropark requires you to use their caterer. But there are many parks accross the state.

If you are willing to consider indoors. The ann arbor art center is one option http://www.annarborartcenter.org/. But I am not sure what the max capacity is. I am guessing around 100.  MOCAD http://www.mocadetroit.org/ lets you bring in your own vendors but it is a little more pricey than some spaces and has a very specific look/feel that you might be too much for you since you used the word nice.
