Saturday

Heading to work in about 20 minutes and I've been awake since 2:00 am. This could be a long day. I hope everyone else has a fun day planned. I really need to start being more proactive in finding a new job. I find this might be more beneficial to me rather than being proactive in finding a new assistent manager, although at the moment I must do both just in case I'm stuck there for a while. I'm not happy with my job or the way the company is headed. Time to move on.

Happy Saturday!

Re: Saturday

  • I'm up because my dog doesn't know the difference between weekdays and weekends. I'm playing along, giving her breakfast and play time, then I'm going to try crating her like I do when I leave for work, but really I'm going back to bed. I'm hoping she is OK with it and doesn't howl obnoxiously to be let out.

I really need more sleep, and my dog doesn't understand the concept of long naps yet. She's okay letting me sleep for an hour, but then she thinks it's time to get up and play. And she's smart enough to know that I'M the one that gets up with her, not H ... unfortunately. I'd pay her money to bother him instead of me some mornings.
  • We're headed out in a bit to meet our wedding planner and get the ball rolling on all of the other wedding stuff! We haven't done a darn thing since we nailed down the venue and photographer. Hope everyone has a great Saturday!
  • Good morning, ladies!  I'm up for my dress fitting with Becky at 11.  I have to run to the post office and back to work in downtown before I head that way.  I am so nervous!  And tired. I think this day calls for a nap :)

  • I'm headed to a cake tasting in Arlington then I'm wasting my Saturday laying by the pool.
  • I'm sooo jealous of all of you. Well except getting woken up by the dog that's never fun. I have a feeling it's going to be a slow day here meaning I'm going to leave early.

  • Yay Amy! Tell Becky I said HI! She's so sweet.

Today the plan is to take a couple of finals, cut my coupons and then at some point today we have to go to the bank and the store.

Other than that just more house cleaning for the bunco I'm hosting Tuesday! AH!

  • ktwed -- Why did I think that you had already found another job?  Did I imagine that or did something fall through?  Either way, I hope you find something that fits you really soon!

crash -- I'll tell her you said hi!" :)  I have never played Bunco before -- I'll have to Google it later, LOL.

Wedding cake tasting... that sounds so good right now.  Maybe I'll have to finally make a stop at the cupcake Happy Hour at TCG today.

  • We have our first premarial counseling class thing today.  It'll be 4 hours, so I'm kinda anxious about what we're going to be doing for that long.

Then we are going a a poker night at a friends house tonight.  I have no idea how to play poker, so that should be interesting.  I did make a receipe for monster cookie dip that I found on Pinterest and it is sooooo yummy!

  • I am up and trying to get H in the shower so we can go to the farmer's market in Frisco Square before it gets too hot. I think later today we are going to wander down to look at a Honda Civic for me, and maybe a Ford Focus and Jetta if time permits.

I want to hold out til fall to get a new car, especially since my repair cost is looking to be minor, but both H and FIL are insistent that it's time I upgrade so that I have a new vehicle covered under warranty again. I prefer to drive mine into the ground.

</div><div>This is me, too.  Why would I pay another car payment until I have to?  Until my car dies on me, it becomes questionable to drive, or a repair cost is just too high to be worth it, I'm riding around in this thing until the wheels fall off!</div><div>
</div><div>I got a new car in 2008 because my old Maxima started to give out on me.  My dad said, "Won't it be so nice to not have to do any repairs for years?"  The thought was nice, but it didn't happen.  Within 2 summers I was already replacing the A/C and the ABS has already gone to hell.

Wendi, I love my Civic Hybrid! I've had it since 08 and it hasn't given me any problems at all. As long as the normal maintenance is done (oil changes, air filters, tires), the gas mileage is consistently high--about 35-40 MPG for normal in-town driving, and closer to 50 MPG for highway. The only upgrades I didn't get were leather seats and window tinting, and it was still under $25K. The only thing I can't bring myself to shell out for is $175 for the upgraded Navigation DVD. Yep, I'm a cheapass. Bankston Honda Lewisville is AWESOME--ask for Michael, he will take awesome care of you. David McDavid is pretty nice too, I've gone there for maintenance since it is across the tollway from work.

Amy I've been submitting my resume here and there but nothing so far. I just really need to do more and get my resume out there and start networking.

Me too. <div>H wants me to get a new car in the fall too. I My car is a 2006, but it has 110,000 miles on it. The time is coming I'm sure when it will die *knock on wood* but it's paid off and I just can't bring myself to take on a car payment right now. </div><div>
</div><div>If anything we'll trade in H's car (as little as he drives it) and he'll keep mine, He has a two door, and he keeps complaining he won't have anything to put a car seat in (when we get to that point.)</div>

  • It is SO hot outside! I am not ready for another Texas summer at all.
  • I have a feeling it could be like last summer with those record hot days. I do like it hot but that was even bad for me. I'm hoping to get engagements done this month before it gets too horribly bad otherwise going to wait until fall.

  • Days like this make me happy we got married in the fall.  It's nice out, especially when there's a breeze, and it would have been so much easier to get married while I was on summer vacation, but oh man would we have been miserable.

Our nephew had his first Holy Communion today.  He got to be one of the lectors at the mass, which was just awesome.  And he rocked it.  Then we had a lunch over at BIL/SIL's house with lots of H's family.  H's grandmother brought us all to tears when she gave nephew the crucifix that had belonged to H's grandfather and had been blessed and mounted above his sickbed when he died.

And we're off in a few minutes for The Old Warsaw and possibly Times Ten Cellar afterward!  I love having H around!

  • Ugh, I definitely wish we could have gotten married in the fall.  My school schedule didn't permit it, though.  It's HOT.  I've lived in Texas my entire life but I hate, hate the hot summers here. The fact that its already in the 90s sucks, especially because that means our ceremony will now be indoors. :(

Professor -- the crucifix story is so sweet.  I hope that he really values that... what an amazing gift!

ktwed -- Is there any particular line of work that you'd like to get in to?

  • Ugh, I have another WR question (collective sigh) regarding ceremony music.

Did anyone mix up their music styles and have some instrumental and some actual songs you'd hear on the radio?  Or have you been to a wedding like this?  There are a few Vitamin String Quartet songs I can get into, but most other instrumental and traditional wedding pieces are just not my taste.  Would it be weird to have the Processional be instrumental, then the bride entrance to be a radio song, then instrumental again for the love letter box ceremony, and then another radio song for the recessional?

I'm overthinking things once again.  I think I've probably asked you guys way too many questions recently -- sorry! :(

It's two weeks til your wedding! This is the best time to be asking questions! :)

You made me pause -- I guess I've only been to church weddings that only played organ music. I think you can definitely do whatever kind of music you want for the processional, though -- it's supposed to be the happy, triumphant moment anyway -- the perfect time for a super upbeat radio song or just whatever you like.

I think my opinion might depend a lot on what song you're thinking of for the bridal entrance. A current pop hit, I would definitely notice the change in "tone" of music. A more ballad-y or soft, pretty song -- I'd probably just think how pretty and fitting it was for that moment.

My church only let us pick from like 2 (super traditional) songs for each part of the ceremony. (For my entrance, I got to choose between Trumpet Voluntary or Trumpet Tune, for example.) I agonized over the choices and just plain hated both trumpet selections -- not my taste at ALL and seemed too showy to me. But at the time, I didn't even HEAR the music. So don't stress too much! It will be the LAST thing on your mind!
