Why aren't they more excited?

I'm probably being really silly, but I'm feeling a bit bummed. My invites just went out and I was SO excited. I spent the time to design them myself and make them super-cute and unique and fit in with our small budget. My mom and aunt called the second they got theirs, raving about them. My fiancee's buddies called right away and were excited (and even said they were cool--very rare for these particular men). But nothing from my bridesmaids. Not one. I don't really need most of the girly ooh and aahs that come with most of the wedding planning--but this was a moment I was looking forward to. Everytime I've gotten an invite from a friend (especially if I was in the wedding party), I would call or text to let them know how excited I was and proud of them I was. So...maybe I'm just venting my bumm-i-ness, but wouldn't you be more excited to get one of your best bud's wedding invitation? (or am I being far too silly and letting all the weird emotion of wedding planning get to me?...)

I have never called a bride to comment on the wedding invitation. You probably won't hear anything about your invitations from most of your guests, other than RSVPs.You are being over sensitive, I think.

I think after getting reactions from guys I can understand being surprised your girls didn't say anything, but don't let it get to you.

Congratulations on getting them out though, that's a major check!

We never heard a word about ours, except from my mom and his. The only response to the invites was the RSVP that came or didn't.

Agree with PP.... you might want to let this one go.

I think that the old saying may be appropriate here-- "nobody will ever be as excited about your wedding as you are." I can understand that you would want to know if people received their invitations, but it is a little much to expect all of your close friends to call and rave about them.

I would never call someone to tell them their invitation was cool. I may mention it when I see them again in person.

So, let it go... You BMs are excited for your wedding and for you, but they won't ooh and ahh over every detail.

I've never in my life called someone about their invitation. If it came up later on at some point I might be like "oh yea your invitations were so cute!" but that'd be it. I wouldn't get upset about it. Your friends are not going to be as excited about your wedding as you are, they'll be excited I'd hope, but not over every little detail.

And good job on making them yourself and getting them out that is a big accomplishment

I think the wedding stress may be getting to you. I was the same way...super excited for my DIY invites to go out because I spent so much time and energy on them and I was proud of them. But no one called me to rave about the invites...I did get a few compliments when I saw people I invited but other than that nothing. I understand when you have a lot of pride in what you made but sadly others just look at them as another wedding invite. They may comment to themselves that they are cute or pretty but most people won't call and let you know.

I'd just let it go. They probably think they look cool but didn't think to call you to tell you.

Remember, no one will be as excited for your wedding than you.

To be honest, when I look at a wedding invitation, I really only care about the information about who, when, and where on it. I notice what the design is, admire it or not, and then move on. It would never occur to me to call the bride and comment on it. Let this one go; it's not worth getting yourself upset over.

Those b*tches. Kidding. I've called close friends to rave about invitations. But I wouldn't worry if you haven't heard from your BMs. You've heard from lots of other people it sounds like. And everyone loved them. So be proud of yourself and don't worry about it.

Don't fret too much! I just sent mine out too, and my mom, who works at a school told me that everyone came up to her at school and told her how beautiful they are. My FSMIL (that's future Step MIL) emailed me and said it was beautiful. I thought, oh wow that's cool that people like them. Well, cause ya know, I did!

I understand why you are disappointed. You put a lot of work in and you want recognition for that. But maybe people just didn't notice and just thought they were regular old invitations. Don't feel bad though. You worked hard and are proud of your finished product, and should be!

Aaaand, just as I typed this one of my BM's emailed me to tell me they were beautiful. It's ok to be disappointed, don't worry! They like them, I KNOW they do!

Really, I think you're being hypersensitive. A lot of people don't analyze invites in great detail. This is why I am in no way breaking the bank on them by having colored envelopes or anything like that. I get why you're bummed but I think you should just be proud of the work you did and move on to the next, bigger and more important issues.

Agree with this 100%. Even my shower invites that went out (that my MOH designed) got people calling our house to tell us how unique and pretty they were. That said, the fact you got any calls (from anyone) tells you how nice they are! That should be enough to know you did a good job.

I know we want everyone to be just as excited as we are but, unfortunately we've all learning/are learning that this isn't the way it is. Some people are just as excited while others are just happy for you!
