Catholic Wedding...

For all those Catholic brides-to-be....just wanted to get an idea of what your experiences are between taking that couples' test (which seems like the easy part) and the retreat you have to with your fiance...know it's something that we have to do but just wanted to get an idea of what we are in for ;)

We had a full Catholic wedding in January and our priest required numerous things: FOCUS test (easy), NFP class (the intro), the meetings with him and the Engagement Encounter (EE) weekend.

We absolutely loved our EE weekend.  Ours was held at the Bethany Center in Lutz and was the best weekend ever.  The time we spent talking about everything and just being with each other was fantastic.  Our priest who married us (also our church Pastor - we were married at Sacred Heart in Tampa but go to St. Stephen in Valrico) ran our weekend and he was great.  The 2 married couples who also ran the weekend were great.  I wish every couple, regardless of denomination, could attend this type of weekend.  It is wonderful how much closer it brings everyone.  If you have the opportunity to go, I would highly recommend it.  We were nervous at first about the weekend, but that didn't last long (5 minutes max).

My H and I are very faith based in our relationship and the weekend also brought God more into our lives than I thought possible.  As you can tell, I loved our weekend.  We have even made the decision to attend the Marriage Encounter after our 1 year anniversary and then on the 5 year marks.

I HTH and keep us posted.  Would love to hear what you thought.

We are doing a full catholic mass and we did the Focus test, we had to do counseling with a marriage counselor we did 4 sessions. The did a day encounter in Lutz, we were given the choice of the weekend or one day and we did the day encounter and it went fine. Some useful information about situations that may rise in the future. Finances, how to deal with arguments, the proper way to approach each other when mad. Just some information that may sound silly but can useful later.
We were nervous as well but it was not bad at all.

Our first meeting with the Priest is the beginning of July where we will take the couples personality test, so I haven't done that part yet. We actually went to our Pre-Cana this past Saturday; it was a one day course. We both thought it was awesome. We spoke about several different topics and we would individually write love letters to one another based on the topic discussed.

We would then read the love letters to each other. I think it definitely brought my FI and I together, and it was a great way of expressing our feelings and putting them out there. I was nervous at first going into it, but I thought it was a great experience overall.
