QOTD

Since it's the first day of hurricane season...Have you ever had to be evacuated from your home for any natural (weather) issues?  Things like fire, flooding, mud slides, earthquake, hurricane.  If so, did you take anything with you?

I have been evacuated twice... Once for a hurricane while attending college in a coastal town of Texas.. And the other for a very severe Tornado heading my way... Both times I didn't take much.. I grabbed my dog the first go round, a few picture albums, laptop and my mother's engagement ring...

The second happened after I had to put my dog to sleep, so I took his ashes with me.. as well as the other things mentioned..

    :)

Sentimental things that I couldn't replace is what I go for first..

During one of the big hurricanes we got like 5 years ago we got evacuated. We took most of the animals. The rabbits stayed at home, we put their cages on top of the refrigerator in case water came in. We weren't expecting anything to happen, and it didn't.

We lost power for a few days during one of the hurricanes, so we had to stay in a hotel with the five dogs.  That was interesting.  I think we pretty much just took the dogs and some clothes.

I feel for all of you! We have insane blizzards and dangerous cold of -10 and -20, but never have to contend with hurricanes in Chicago. Be safe, ladies!!

I was evacuated once when I was a freshman in college for a really bad storm. I lived on campus so we were told we had 5 minutes to grab some essentials and head to the gym. I took my boyfriends (now FI) letterman jacket, photos, my laptop, a tiger stuffed animal I've had for most of my life, a throw blanket, a small bag of clothes and on our way out my roommate and I both grabbed a bottle of butterscotch schnapps lol thankfully nothing got damaged but looking back we probably could have found something better then the schnapps. Tongue out
