Rehearsal Dinner

I'm trying to think of an idea for a "theme" for our rehearsal dinner. It's being held at Sam & Gabes (a local italian restaurant) so i was thinking maybe just going with a wine country theme...but we don't really drink a lot of wine.

I'm hoping for something classic but fun. our wedding is new years eve.

ideas?? or what are you doing?

You don't need a theme for a RD. Just eat and be excited for the wedding!

We are just bbq-ing for our RD. We bought paper plates, table cloths etc that are black and pink (3 of our wedding colors). We aren't having a theme tho. It was hard enough for me to figure things out for the wedding, LOL.
I don't think there is anything wrong with doing it, just takes more time and money than I wanted to spend.

I agrees with this. We're doing either a BBQ or Smoking something in my FIL's back yard. I wanted something where I felt really comfortable and I couldn't really find anywhere I wanted to mine at- Our wedding is in Indianola. So this will work out great for 98% of the people coming to the RD.

I like the idea of a theme!  I don't have a great idea, but for mine I was thinking about doing something really showcasing our relationship.  We are considering making 6 small cakes as dessert for the people at the RD as I asked my fiance on our first date on a cake!  I don't think something over the top themed is necessary, but something cute and small like that can be fun!

We aren't really having a theme for the RD, but I am taking some of the vases that we are using for center pieces at the reception and putting them on the tables for the RD.

I am renting some vases from Something Chic. They have cute stuff and not a bad price.

We're not sure.  In an effort to keep cost down, we might just have it at my fiance's aunt & uncle's house or even at our house.  But if we go that route, we will likely still have it catered.  There are a few great bbq caters in DSM...but we're still very up in the air.

I am with klovesd, you should just go and enjoy.  Although if you really like the idea of a themed RD, then I would make it whatever you want and not care too terribly much as to whether it fits with having it at Sam & Gabe's.
