My mom just called. The cardiologist still hasn't shown up and the nurses haven't been giving her the medication for her tachycardia. Someone hold me back from going to the hospital and punching someone.

  • My mom is there and my brother was yesterday. I've been going after work. My mom will start laying down the law for sure.
  • I'm glad your mom is there and unafraid to speak up.
  • I don't know if this is all hospitals, but I remember the last few times that my grandfather has been in the hospital (three different hospitals), there was a phone number posted in the room for the patient/family to call if they felt the patient's care was not being handled properly.

Can you check to see if there is a service like that available?

  • She's having an angiogram at 2:30. The cardiologist says it could very well be nothing but the problem was in the front of the heart on the stress test.

My mom about gave me a heart attack because the first thing she said was "Where did you park?" implying that I needed to get on the bus right now and get over there because something was severely wrong. WTG mom.
  • Is anyone with her at the hospital? Sometimes you do need someone there to fight for the patients rights.

  • :( That's terrible Jess.  Is this a situation you could call up and check on her, and keep everyone accountable for their duties?
  • On TK just for you!

Seriously though, is there anyone that can go down there and be with her? That is not good that they aren't giving her the medication that she needs!!
  • Wow... this is why I can hate hospitals sometimes.

I hope everything comes out ok.  Please keep us updated.

  • Thanks everyone.

She is out of her angiogram and she does have a blockage. Apparently it's minor enough to be fixed with medication, or at least try that first. They haven't come to final decision yet (I called mom right after they had talked to the doctor) but it's what the doctor prefers to do.

    Well I'm glad it's minor!!
  • I'm glad it's only minor.

From what I've seen with minor blocks they'll try meds first, monitor it, and then change things up if needed.

  • I'm glad it's minor, hopefully the medication will work.
  • Well I learned yesterday that the blockage really wasn't minor. It was at 99.9% blocked and started it's own bypass. I didn't even know hearts could do that. The body is an amazing machine. Needless to say, I freaked out when I heard it was that high but they're still just doing meds as the blockage isn't giving her any problems and already started to heal itself.

The regular doctor has dismissed her to leave but the cardiologist has to do the same and the nurse yesterday said he doesn't make his rounds until 4pm usually. I'm crossing my fingers he comes earlier.
  • Jess- well that isnt as good as the original news, but still good news! Praying for your grandma that the medication kicks the blockage's butt!
