Once upon a time there was this princess; she couldn’t wait to marry her prince charming. She never wanted to bring up the future or wedding ideas because she didn’t want him to feel the pressure. Thankfully the man upstairs knew that this prince charming needed a little information before he took the next few steps further in a relationship. The princess soon found herself taking her prince charming through Wedding 101. She gathered a few pointers for couples ready to take that next step:
1. Never make assumptions that he just knows how it is all supposed to work. Weddings aren’t like trucks; you don’t just throw all the parts back together and see if it works out.
2. Reiterate to your loved one that you have dreamed of the day you got engaged for years and will pass on the story to future generations. FYI guys-don’t propose to your girl in the morning while she has toothpaste foaming out of her mouth in the restroom.
3. Be sure and give him an idea of what type of ring you like or for Pete’s sake just take him and show him the ring you like. When a girl says they would like a princess cut solitaire, the guy hears some foreign language. So, remember to use the primary vocabulary like one single square diamond on a band.
4. Don’t think that he knows what different types of weddings are like. For instance, you may need to clarify that a destination wedding is NOT the pond at the next town over.
5. Be aware that everyone does not have the same wedding etiquette. Some guys think that just because they are getting married on a beach that they can simply get married in their swim trunks.
Once again NEVER assume…. this princess really did experience these moments of disbelief. You MUST break it all the way down for most of the male gender. Good luck!

Wouldn't it be nice to live together in the kind of world where we belong?

WTF?
CN: Men are stupid and don't know how to think for themselves! Women are stupid hosebeasts who should make ridiculous demands very slowly so men understand them.

Um. If that's what my FI seriously thought I wouldn't be teaching him etiquette I'd be having his intelligence and mental competence evaluated
Boys are dee you em, dum!!!
....well, it's a good thing we all married our husbands for their sexual prowess and keen fashion sense rather than their smarts then.
And the fact that you call yourself a princess makes me want to puke.
ETA: I guess the fact that FI suprised me with the engagement and knows more about diamonds than I do because he did research before he bought the ring makes him extraordinary, then I'll take that. If you had to lead him by the hand, then he didn't want to propose, he wanted to shut you up.
Amirite, ladies? Is this thing on?
ETA: TJ, you beat me to it! We're sharing a brain today, I guess.

All I'm picturing is that girl from Bridezillas that talked baby talk all the time.
Books read in 2012: 21/50
Doc: Was this princess you?
Snow White: And she fell in love.
Sneezy: Was it hard to do?
Snow White: It was very easy/anyone could see/that the Prince was charming/the only one for me.
Doc: Was he strong and handsome?
Sneezy: Was he big and tall?
Snow White: Their's nobody like him/anywhere at all.
Bashful: Did he say he loved ya?
Happy: Did he steal a kiss?
Snow White: [sung] He was so romantic/I could not resist.
Sigh . . . some day my prince will come. And thanks to this I'll be armed with ways to make him propose in the CORRECT way!!
Sigh . . .

Ha! Perhaps Mr. Roper will suggest she get married in one of Mrs. Roper's caftans.

I also decided that instead of passively-aggressively "pressuring" by not pressuring him into marriage we might have a real-live conversation about our future.
LOVE your avatar by the way.

So true, but I also make him dinner sometimes and clean his underwear. I did it all to manipulate my way into wifedom. SUCCESS
And FYI, you don't just throw a truck back together and see if it works, either, so that analogy is stupid.

He was most likely trying to catch you off guard. Way to be betchy. Sounds like he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't with you.
