I had to do it.

Didn't someone mention last week about updating their FB status to something about fairies dying when people play FB games? I just had to change my status after 75% of the status updates in my feed were about Farmville or Aquarium or someshit. Ugh.

Bec: "Teacher says, every time someone updates Farmville or Aquarium or WhateverFBgame in their status, and angel has a violent seizure and falls out of heaven deader than hell." Is that the quote from It's a Wonderful Life?

Re: I had to do it.

  • "deader than hell" is definitely straight out of IAWL.

    *snort*  heheheh.........

(I admit, I play one FB game.  I've only allowed my score to post one time, and that's because it was a freakin' kickass score - I play Bejeweled).

Maybe that should have been my lame confession earlier??

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • What's crazy is that most of the time you have the choice of whether or not to let it post that crap onto the status page.  I play Mafia Wars and Mindjolt Games and it always asks me first if I want to publish what just happened and I always click NO out of respect for my FB friends.

  • It's a Wonderful Life. I was being lazy.
  • EXACTLY, Dani. I have one friend who, in the last 5 minutes, has updated her status with three different games. She is about to be unfriended.
  • This is one of the exact reasons I deleted my FB page..........I really don't miss it at all.  I enjoy Myspace because it's so dead there now that nobody messes with me.  I guess I'm just becoming a bitter married woman with no friends.  LOL.
  • Bec, I think you can Hide updates like that.  Off to the right side of the game update, click on the Hide button and it should let you hide all updates from Aquarium or whatever that particular one is.  I had to hide some one that my friend would do that always showed half naked chicks with boobs hanging out because I didn't think it was safe for work.  Now my FB is blocked at work and I'm depressed over it I tell ya.

  • Ha cew! Sorry. I had a brainfart.

I love your FB comment! Make it into a game!
  • You can hide the updates from all of those games.  I had to do it or I was going to go insane.

I think when one comes up, you can put your mouse somewhere on it (somewhere on the right? ) and it will ask if you no longer want to see posts related to the game.
  • Dani, you beat me to it :)
  • My FB comes to my phone and I can't find out how to hide those status updates, Dani. One shouldn't have to. No one givesashit if you have a new baby fish or an urgent Yoville task. WTF is that even?

Oh I totally agree that one shouldln't have to hide them, but for your own sanity you can!

  • Haha, I just saw this on FB. Hilarious! But I also don't play any of those games.

  • Yeah, but you have to block each game individually, and there's eleventy billion of them.

I thought this too. However, the few hidden repeat-offenders, farmville, actually hide A LOT of the junk you see.
  • Any time someone sends me a request that involves a FB app, I block it.  It doesn't really take that much time, since I would be choosing 'ignore' or 'accept' anyway, just to get it off my page.  I recently updated my privacy settings and I only have maybe 14 things blocked, and I have very few stupid updates on my news feed.  Now I just need to start hiding updates from friends who think FB is Twitter.

  • Is it evil that now i want to go to FB and send you requests for games i don't even play?  perhaps.
