And is the bachelorette party supposed to be before or after the shower or does it not matter? I'm getting married at the end of June and would like to have my bachelorette at the end of May but I'm not sure if that will work out for my friends. Would the last weekend in April seem too early?

You should not be planning you own party. And yes, April is too soon. You bach is supposed to be your last night out as a single woman.

Although I agree you should not be planning it, and that 2 months seems a little too early, I disagree that it should be your actual last night as a single woman. Your host should check the availability of you and your friends and make plans accordingly. My party with my WP was back home about a month before because I had to fly to them, and I certainly wasn't going out the night or two before the wedding.

I may be wrong here, but if the bacholorette party is the last night as a single woman, does this mean that it would take place after the rehersal dinner? Just checking. I think I would be okay with a couple of days before the wedding, but not too far out in advance.
Anyway, I think two months out is fine if that is what works best for everyone. As a seasoned bridesmaid, I always try to remember as a bride, that the bridal party is spending a lot of time and money to be a part of my wedding. For me, it was more important to be flexible with their schedules and pocket books in planning this event, especially since they are graciously hosting it. If the end of April works best then go for it and have a great time!
