DJ?

Me and my fiance just thought of something that we have skipped over....

For outside weddings, does the DJ play the ceremony music and music for singers?

If you are having an outside wedding, what are you doing for ceremony music??

Thanks ladies!

I am having my wedding outside and we are having seperate musicians that will play for the ceremony and cocktail hour.  The DJ will only play for the reception.

We are probably going to have a violinist for the outside ceremony.  Our DJ said he can work with them and kind of have both...we haven't decided which route we are going to do, but we are definitely interested in the live music aspect of it.  Plus I took violin lessons in elementary school, so its a personal touch for me.

i think we will have a trio of 2 violins and a cello (i also used to play the violin so it means more to me, plus my dad really likes classical music so he's willing to spring for it) we found the musicians through the dj company so they have worked together before and we are just having the DJ for the reception.
another option is having the DJ do both, they are usually prepared for that kinda stuff i would just make sure it is specified beforehand so you know how many hours to book the dj for...

My cousin's DJ played for the ceremony and the reception.  They picked stuff like Josh Groban "The Prayer" and a couple other main stream songs... and it was a very non-religious ceremony.  And I know my DJ asked me if she was doing ceremony or if that was in a church.

ok so the option is usual live music or the dj for oustide?

unless we think of something else, we will probably just have the dj for both.
I just don't want the dj to be any part of the ceremony, like he will be in the center dance floor for the reception. I want him to be kind of hidden, so still seems like real piano playing or live music, you know what i mean?

I guess, i can just talk to dj about this. hopefully he is okay with it!

To be honest, I was too cheap to pay for musicians, and had my DJ do the ceremony music.  We had an outdoor gazaebo ceremony.  He sat off to the side, completely out of sight and played exactly what I asked him to play.  We had a pretty casual ceremony, and the music I chose was:

Come Away With Me (Instrumental) - Grands and Moms processions
Clair de Lune - BM procession
Forrest Gump Suite - My procession
You And I, Stevie Wonder - Unity Candle lighting
Signed Sealed Delivered, Stevie Wonder - Recessional

One of my friends in the bridal party told me how much he enjoyed the ceremony music.  I'm not sure if anyone else recognized the songs or not.

thanks! Yeah i think we are going to have the DJ do the ceremony but try to be completely hidden. I think its do-able.  would love to have violins or chellos...not in budget. but the dj is a great price, if anyone is still looking! (and he played at a wedding i was in, so I think he is great)
