Postage Help!

I want to make sure I'm not getting confused.  This seems very straightforward, but if I weighed one of my invitations at the post office, and it weighed 1.6 oz, that means a single 65 cent stamp is sufficient, right?

Thanks ladies!

Re: Postage Help!

  • Postage also depends on you shape and size, not just the weight. When you weighed it, they should have told you what postage would be necessary. I would go back if they didn't and simply hand the finished invitation to a post office offical to see what exactly it needs, that way you aren't over or underspending.
  • General consensus is to take an invitation to two separate post offices and see what they say - and then go with the higher option! There are restrictions not only on height and width, but also thickness, so a wedding invitation might be bumped up to the next class - depending of course, on what all you have in there!

I agree.  This is what I did to save any confusion.

  • I have a very rectangular shaped invite and took it to the post office and they said 65 cents so that is what I am going with :)

  • Thanks everyone! I mailed them at lunch today and unfortunately bc of the thickness had to add an additional 45 cent stamp to each, for a total of $1.10 per invite - yuck!

  • Mine came out to 1.10 and we made our own stamps at zazzle.com. Everyone says they love the personalized stamps, very unique.
