How did you pick your colors?

So... I love color, lots of color. Dont really have a favorite color... maybe blue, maybe other brights like green or pink/ purple... like I said, I'm having a trouble picking colors...

What inspired you to pick your colors? How did you decide what colors would look good at your reception site?  Any pointers would be helpful!

What are the colors you picked!

I had the VERY same problem! How ever could I choose just a few colors to represent the most important day of my life!?!?! Soooo I decided to have black and ivory as my "main" colors, and then to incorporate my love of color, we are having very bright and colorful flowers!

I've always loved the combination of brown and orange... we're getting married in November, so those colors worked out well as they're quite "fall ish"

Our main color is brown with dark orange and purple accents :)

Overall I have a certain style that I've always liked, vintage like, deeper colors.  I originally wanted to go the red route but saw a color scheme board of fuschia and pewter w/a little pink and purple mixed in and loved it.  Totally my style and something I don't think I've seen at a wedding, so that was that.  Our wedding is in Sept. so it isn't necessarily a fall color scheme but that doesn't really matter to me.

Just keep searching around and look at inspiration boards and something is bound to catch your eye.  Good luck!

Our color scheme came naturally.  I've always loved pink, and as soon as FI approved, we were good to go :)  We decided to go with black and white as our main colors, with pink as an accent.  (FI didn't want too much pink . . .) After I chose an ivory dress, we started to incorporate ivory into the color scheme.  Now our colors are black, white, ivory, and pink.  The bridesmaid dresses are fuchsia (technically, watermelon), but the bouquets are going to include a couple different pinks.

Wedding bios and blogs are great sources of inspiration.  Look at different color combinations and see which you and your FI prefer.

I saw turquoise in a Knot magazine and loved it.  I paired it with yellow and white originally like in the wedding I saw.  But then I wanted a darker shade to ground it, so I added cobalt blue.  Then I wanted pink flowers, and I couldn't decide how I would incorporate cobalt blue/yellow into my cake, CPs, etc., so I scrapped the whole thing and just did turquoise and pink like my heart desired :) It took a year or so of tuning the color palette to make it what I wanted since I didn't know what I wanted in the first place!

This may not be too much help since you love all colors but I just went with a color I have always liked for the longest time, turquoise. The kind of turquoise that is the color of the water in the caribbean. While I've gone back and forth on favorite colors I always came back to that one. For the second color, I got the idea from a good friend's wedding. She had pink and black and I loved how the black made her wedding seem so elegant and that was my vision. So I did turquoise and black and I LOVE them together. My whole theme is centered around the damask pattern.

We ended up with colors by default.  FI and I started talking about the colors of the bridesmaid dresses.  We both love dark red but red looks horrible on 3 of the bridesmaids.  So that was out.  I wanted coral and couldn't find any dresses that I liked.  Finally, we looked at some blue dresses.  I liked the periwinkle, he liked the Cobalt.  We finally ended up with the cobalt and I love it.  Main color is cobalt blue.  Accents are white and silver.  We are using bright pink, yellow, coral, white and blue flowers to add the pop of color.  I can't wait to see it all come together.

We booked a country club as our reception venue and we wanted to stick with a preppy/summer theme, so pink and green were a natural choice! It WAS hard to find BM dresses, though. I didn't want pink BM dresses, so that left green. Luckily, we found the perfect dress in a great shade of green (thank goodness).

Alternative colors I would've liked: orange or yellow + grey; light teal + orange.

FI and I actually sat down one day on a website that sold bridesmaid dresses in a LARGE variety of colors that you could preview online. We picked a dress that had an accent color as well that you could change and we just started going through color combinations that we liked. We ended up with three beautiful colors that we both love and found them in kind of a non-traditional way. I have yet to find a similar color combination on all my inspiration searches but we love it! Our reception site will be draped all in white so it's definitely a blank canvas for any color combo

LOVE those color combos! We went with a stone gray and sunset orange, and I'm liking the deep plums and turquoise as accent colors.

We actually started with the flowers.  My favorite flowers are circus roses (yellow with red tips), and they are what FI always gets me.  So I knew I wanted those for my bouquet and his bout, so we started coordinating with that.   Our colors have ended up being red, orange, and yellow, with dark red being the emphasis - my shoes, the guys ties, and our "emergency umbrella" are all dark red.  Our invitations will probably be white or ivory with some red design.

We chose ours based on the hydrangeas we planted at our new house.  They were so gorgeous that I kept saying I loved the color.  It is a cornflower blue and is also my FI's favorite color. He has like 20 blue dress shirts!  My favorite color is red but so many of my friends had a red wedding. I chose lime green and brown as our accent colors.  I still go back and forth about colors but I am locked in now on those and find them so beautiful together.  Good luck!  Think of the flowers you like and you could go from there!

I had always wanted black but I couldn't quite sell the idea to FI...I wanted black BM dresses but he thinks black is too "funeral" looking.  I love the look of black at a wedding but I couldn't change his mind, so I went with the next closest color, chocolate brown.  When I bought my townhouse, my mom had given me some plates with chocolate brown, tiffany blue and lime green in them.  I loved the combo so much it evenutally become the inspiration for our wedding colors.

I knew I wanted a fall theme (October 3), so the colors were just the colors of fall leaves.  One thing you might want to keep in mind is that some colors will be easier to find and cheaper for decorations than others.  Red is a really popular color for multiple holidays, so you might be able to find good deals (red M&Ms after Christmas or red hearts after V-day).  Eggplant purple might not be as easy to find things in.

I had a hard time finally picking our wedding colors. I knew that I wanted red in the wedding colors, but I also knew that I wanted lilies as my flowers. Well I love white and red lilies together and I didnt want the flowers to be the same as the dresses, so I we decided that we would have brown be the main color and red and white would be the accent colors. This way I get the bouquets that I love and they look great with the brown dresses!

Martha Stewart Weddings, all the way. Seriously. Their color combinations are stunning. I found my combo in (I think) the summe 2008 issue.

I chose them mostly on the kind of mood I wanted to create. I'm a very sunny and cheery person, and I love bright colors, but I didn't want my wedding to turn into Candyland or ovewhelm FI's more subdued tastes.

We settled on raspberry, goldenrod, and medium grey. The grey really balances out the brighter colors, and we chose deeper tones of pink and yellow to create warmth while still seeming grown-up. I have lots of pics in my bio if they'll help.

ohhhh boy colors have been the HARDEST part of wedding planning for me!  We knew for sure we wanted blue to be our main color since both of our favorite colors are blue...but what blue??  I started out wanting a really light blue or aqua but slowly it evolved into darker and darker blues until we arrived at navy.  I just thought it seemed more classic and easy to match.  I still wanted a little light blue so we're using cornflower blue for accents.  I knew from the start that i wanted pink flowers and that has never changed.  SO..we're going with navy blue, cornflower blue, and pink!  I am happy now :)

I ended up finding my color by BM dress shopping at David's. I went in thinking I wanted either a pale blue or lavender, ended up seeing "lapis" which is a dark purpley/bluish color, and decided on that. The colors I originally wanted I just couldn't find in BM dresses, so I went and looked and found a color that I love.

I like contrast, so we chose black and white (BMs in black with a white sash and GM in white tuxes with black vests. My dress also has black detail). I actually tried to talk my mom into that color scheme when she married my stepdad almost 4 years ago.  Now I'm glad that I was not successful.  FI's favorite color is red so that is our accent.

I think our colors started out as a joke.  My FI is a Vikings fan and I'm a Packer fan.  So we were tossing around ideas and he jokingly suggested Purple and Green.  But once we started looking around we found some great purple and green combations that looked awesome so it stuck!

I love the fall and fall colors so I went off that. Brown was my base and then decided to add eggplant purple and sage/olive green because purple is Joe's fav color and green is mine. We are accenting with ivory and gold because they all look good together. So really it just took a while of me playing around with stuff to figure it all out and we ended up with a lot more colors than usual but I think it will look great the way we are pulling them all together.

    Red, White and Black

I've always kind of known I wanted red as a color in my wedding especially after I met my fiance and realized his favorite color was red. It was the one detail I knew long before I ever even got engaged.

We are going with a platinum gray and yellow, with accents of white.  Our flowers (both bouquets and centerpieces) are going to have a few different shades of yellow (from butter yellow to a deeper goldenrod yellow), and the men are having a yellow pocketsquare and bout.  We're also doing gray bridesmaid dresses and tablecloth overlays for the reception, but we didn't want to go overboard on color so we made the chair covers and sashes white.

We were going to go with lilac and light green, but my fiance decided he didn't like purple, and I didn't want to do something really Easter-y.  We both like how spring-like but elegant the gray and yellow look together.
