October 2012 Weddings

What do you still have left to do?

I'm getting married at the very end of October. If you are too, I'm wondering whether you have 1) written vows, 2) ordered flowers, 3) ordered invitations, 4) ordered the wedding cake if you'e having one, 5) registered for wedding gifts, 6) chosen accessories such as shoes, jewelry, clutch. I feel as though we're way behind on everyhing.

Dress, venue, photographer, music, officiant, and hair & make-up stylist are all lined up.

Re: What do you still have left to do?

• My Date is October 20th. From your list I have ordered flowers, ordered invitations, ordered the cake and have picked accessories.

I have not yet registered (but plan to soon) but we have started writing our vows.

• ha, ummm, I've done almost none of those!! Ugggg....another weekend gone without a lot accomplished! I did make my garter, sooooo I guess I have that and my shoes picked out for my accessories. I know what invites we are doing, but the wording is up in the air. Flowers are probably being done by a family friend, but I should probably pick out what they will be. Yep, I feel way behind now!

• You're getting married the day after me. I pretty much have everything done, but I've been engaged for over a year.

Don't stress to much. Just make a list and prioritize it with due dates. Even though they aren't crossed off your list, it will make you feel better to have a plan in place.

And if it makes you feel better, the only reason I have most things figured out/completed is because they are DIY projects (invitations, strassing my shoes, doing my own flowers).

• Our date is 10/12

1) Vows - nope, not yet
2) Met with florist twice, but we haven't finalized the details yet. Working on this now.
3) Invites ordered and they just actually just arrived on Sat : )
4) Cake - included with our package at our venue. We picked out all the cake details at our last meeting with the venue
5) Registered last Nov before Christmas. I keep an eye on the registries (Macy's and Williams-Sonoma to make sure things aren't discontinued)
6) Accessories - everything is purchased

I'm early October (the sixth), but here's where I stand:
1) Written vows: No. FI was grouching about that this weekend, too, ha. Hopefully soon.
2) Ordered flowers: Yes. Except for the boutonnieres, which we're picking up on Etsy.
3) Ordered invitations: Yes, and I'm working on them now (we're DIYing them). My goal is to put them in the mail 4th of July weekend.
5) Registered for wedding gifts: Yes, a while back, in fact.
6) Chosen accessories: Yes, although I don't have a clutch. I'm not sure if I'll use one, though.

Things that are still on my To-Do list, and freaking me out, ha:
1) These invites. What a mofo these have turned out to be!
2) Purchase wedding bands (we picked them out this weekend, though)
3) Men's clothes. They've picked them out, but FI needs to go in and get measured.
4) Marriage license (which we can't do yet anyway, it'll expire, but I'm still freaking out about it) and passport (for honeymoon)
5) Favors (we know what we're doing, but I'm starting to realize putting it together may take more time than I'm thinking)
6) Gifts for our wedding party & family

Yikes!

1) No, but we're using the standard Catholic ones so we don't have to!
2) Yes, they are currently sitting in a rubbermaid container. They are origami paper flowers, so I wanted to get them done way ahead of time.
3) Yes. And about 80% of them are assembled, stamped and ready to be sent out.
4) No. I have the baker lined up but haven't gone in for the consultation or testing yet. I plan to get that out of the way in the next couple of weeks.
5) Yes.
6) I've made my shoes and all my jewelry is going to be borrowed. I'm not carrying a purse or anything. I'll hand off my phone and other small things to the BMs.

ETA:
Things still left to do:

1) Music
2) Engagement pictures
3) Work on the ceremony/do wedding prep course
4) Table numbers
5) Escort cards/seating chart
6) Favour boxes

• The only thing on that list I haven't done is vows. We aren't writig our own but still need to decide. I'm getting ready to start addressing invites and making paper flowers for escort cards. I also need to order favors. Those are the biggest things left for me that I can start working on.

I'm getting married 10/20. So far I still have to order invites, speak with the pastor, get the rest of the stuff for reception decor, purchase shoes, veil, jewelry, finalize florist plans I just met with one florist today and if she's under budget we're going to book. I still don't have all my BM's to order their dresses. We haven't chosen tuxes yet or touched any music but we do have a DJ. I still need to get plates cups and silverware etc for the reception and we're cooking ourselves with the help of a friend or two so all that will have to be bought and done. I have to pick up things needed for the sand ceremony. I'm sure there are a million other things I can't think of at this moment too!

• We're getting married 10/27. From your list, we have everything except vows and cake. We're not writing our own vows, which is easier. Also, we have a friend of the family making the cake, we just need to work out details.

My to-do list is mostly just DIY projects at this point. I have a half-done cardbox to finish, favors to buy, centerpieces to work on, escort cards, addressing invites (which is sure to be a b*tch), and some other misc decor.

• I'm getting married on the 12th, and I think I'm pretty on track.
1) Written vows: Not yet...I asked FI when he wanted to start them and he jokingly said the night before...
2) Ordered flowers: Not yet.
3) Ordered invitations: I am doing DIY and working on them right now, they will be done and printed off for sure by the end of this month
5) Registered for wedding gifts: Check!
6) Chosen accessories: I'm thinking about it, but i am going to use something from this category as something old, so we will see what I can find,..

We have our hall, my dress, the girls dresses, photographer, band/dj, caterer(just recently), but still need an Officiant, and ceremony music.

• My wedding is October 6th, but we have been engaged since March 2011 and have had quite a bit of time to plan early.

1) written vows - we are doing the catholic responses, so we won't have vows.
2) ordered flowers - we picked out our flowers, but will give a final order closer to a month before.
3) ordered invitations - we are DIY, so I have all the paper and just die cut the invite folders last week. I hope to glue the pocket parts starting this week. My sister is desigining the invite and I just selected the version we are using and then she is going to make the RSVP and other cards to go in the pocket and then they will go the printers for printing and cutting. We plan to then put them all together and have them mailed out by the end of July.
4) ordered the wedding cake if you'e having one - we are doing cupcakes. We did our taste testing and know what we are ordering and have that planned out but will do a final meeting in July where we will actually place the order.
5) registered for wedding gifts- yes, we registered at BBB, Macy's and C&B back in March of this year.
6) chosen accessories such as shoes, jewelry, clutch - I haev my shoes, jewelry, and just got a clutch in the mail last week from Etsy which I adore!
Dress , venue, photographer, music, officiant, and hair & make-up stylist are all lined up.

You will get it all done - really it is just telling yourself what you will do today and then move on to what you will do the next day, or week.

• 1) Not writing our own vows.
2) Flowers have been decided on but the order won't be placed until July when my mom has the money.
3) Invites were ordered months ago, and now I've stuffed and addressed them as well. All that's left is a stamp on the return envelopes.
4) Cake has been decided on but the baker will not take the order until 2 months before.
5) Got bored back in March, so done.
6) All picked out, half of it is bought.
