not having a shower

I grew up in Va and moved up north because of lack of work...which was a blessing in disguise because I met my wonderful FI.  I have been here for two years, and outside of his mother, sister, and sister in law, and my mother who is local, I really only have a couple of female acquaintances and co-workers.  Only only 'friend" I talk to out side of work...so I'm not having a bridal shower (and had to tell FIs sister I wanted some sort of bachelorlette party).  Not a big deal, by any means, but for some reason the last day or two I have been kind of sad that that's a part of being the bride that I'm missing out on.  Anyone else not having a shower?

I honestly don't know if I am or not, no one has asked me about one and my MOH is leaving on Tuesday to go to Ireland for a month(super excited for her she totally deserves it) and my parents are paying for the wedding so I dont expect my mom to throw me a shower and pay for the wedding.

I would love one, but like you I don't have alot of friends, but no one has offered yet...

  • As far as I know, I'm not, lol. I'm kind of glad because I'm not big on being the center of attention...I never really thought about getting married so not having a bridal shower isn't a big deal for me. I've also never been to one so there's that- I can see how if you've been to ones or thought about having one of your own some day, there could be disappointment.

  • one of my co-workers asked if I was having one and I told her FSIL has arranged for the local nail salon to take the bridal party and moms in as their last appointment, and are letting us bring cheese and wine, two days before the wedding to get our nails done (but other than me, each girl has to pay for what they get).  The co-worker said that's not a shower.
  • I'm also probably not having a shower. I don't have a lot of friends in the area because I still live in the town I went to college in and everyone moved away for jobs. At first I didn't really want a shower (because I hate opening gifts in front of people and never really like attending showers) but now that its getting closer I feel like I'm missing out.

that's it exactly!!!  i didn't think twice about it until my coworker brought it up...and now I feel the same
  • I'm not having one by choice.   Not interested in them, I always seem to find them rather boring.  I also do not want any kind of bachelorette party.   A friend was trying to plan a surprise party for me and my FI had to keep telling her I wasn't interested and the dates wouldn't work etc.

  • I wasn't into all the details until one day I said, I am getting married once.  I was willing to go low key on my bachelorette and then I thought I want this to be special so I told my MOH what I really wanted to do.  Can you have one where you're from?  If you can't, then I wouldn't worry about it too much.  I feel your pain though and I'm sorry you're feeling this way.  Planning a wedding brings many new emotions.
  • I'm not having one either. We're having a destination wedding, and I think it's enough that they are all traveling for it. We're doing more thing around the wedding though, so if that's when a lot of your friends will be with you, you might want to have special lunches or get together with your close friends then.
  • I am not having one either. This is my second wedding and I am not having a wedding party except for my children. I do kind of want one though. Maybe my co-workers will surprise me and give me one.
