Questions for Prospective Coordinators

I will be having initial phone conferences/meetings with several prospective coordinators next week. I am an OOT bride and will probably need something in between just day of and the full deal. I've found several good lists of suggested questions to ask when interviewing coordinators in magazines, but was wondering if anyone has their own suggestions or advice? Was there anything you didn't ask or consider that you wish you would have? Thanks in advance!!

Ask about what services are "in kind" and what they will charge - like Get Polished told me they didn't have enough candles for the candle holders, so I could use the holders for free but bought my own candles. Also, they said "provide for for bridal party while getting ready" - well they meant literally got get food and send you the bill for it. I also rented a cakestand and table clothes from them, but I thought some would be included for free, since the contract stated I could use anything they had for free. I would make clear that you want "x amount of recommendations for each service." Sometimes I was only provided with 1 vendor for something, so I just went with it by default. I would specify what extra activities they would help on - such as bridal brunch, rehearsal dinner, etc. I was under the impression I would at least receive some input for these activities, when in reality they didn't assist what so ever.

    HTH!

I agree with hollybee....definitely you want to make sure that the wedding planner will provide a certain number (i would say at least 3) recommendations for each vendor. Otherwise you have no idea about price ranges, value for money etc. so you'll have to just go with the only recommendation she offers, or else spend a lot of your time researching vendors to figure out whether what she's recommended is actually good value, meets your requirements etc.

There is also a list for this in the book by Mindy Weiss "The Big Book for Your Big Day" which I have found extremely helpful throughout the planning process.  She covers literally everything.

    Good luck

I would just go over each package and ask about the details! My wedding planner, belle soiree, has packages that explain to you pre wedding, wedding day, and post wedding. I have full planning but I know they offer in between full and day of for a great price! Check them out!

318 Designs uses itemized lists of services. I would ask for an itemized list of all of the services so that you'll know what you are getting. Plus who needs surprise bills!Sealed

Now that I have narrowed it down to two, is it ok to make a final decision without having a face to face meeting? Or should I wait until I can meet them in person to decide?
