photography in hampton roads suggestions/opinions

Hi everyone,

I'm usually on one of the Ohio boards because that's where I'm getting married but I just started looking for photographers to (possibly) do e-pics here in Hampton Roads.

The issue is..... I've already found a photographer for my wedding, but my fiance and I just can't seem to be in Ohio during a time that works for us and our photographer to schedule an e-pics session with them. Time is running out.... and I really wanted us to get pics done to put on our STDs :)

I was sort of a hoping to get to know our photographer better through an e-pics session, but now I just don't know. Do you think it would be silly of me to try to find someone here that is local to do just e-pics? Does anyone have any suggestions for photographers? I want them to be nice, but preferably not too $$ since I've already invested in a photographer for our big day (5-28-11!!!).

Any suggestions/opinions appreciated. :)

    I just got my e-pics done the end of August in Virginia Beach. My photographer was AMAZING and our pictures came out better then I could have ever hoped. Her name is April Campbell and she goes by April Renee photography. You must take a look at her work for yourself. She goes above and beyond for her clients. She will work to make your ideas come true. I AM SOOOO happy with the whole experience. Oh and to top it off she is very reasonable and does not mind just doing your e-session. We are getting married in the Bahamas on a cruise so she is just did my engagement photos and is going to do some bridal ones as well. You cab check her out on facebook under April Renee Photography and her website is aprilrenee.com. I promise you will not be disappointed....well only if you dont use her! :)

    We used Rebecca Franklin for our epix (and she's doing our wedding as well). She's super reasonable and does great work. I am so in love with my pictures! (There are some in my bio if you want a peak!)

    I definitely liked having the same photog for our epics and wedding - by the time the wedding rolled around, we were more comfortable with he and his wife and son (assistants) and I think it made our wedding pictures more relaxed and better-looking.  If you can't get your Ohio photog for epics, why not try to schedule an informal get-together so that you can just talk over coffee or something like that?  It will probably make the wedding pictures go more smoothly!

    As for local photogs, I'd recommend Scott Hayne Photography (our photog), Waterside Photography or Hobbs Studio in Chesapeake (portraits).

    Thanks so much everyone! I do want our photographer in ohio to do our e-pics preferably so we get to know them better... but the earliest we'd be able to schedule would be around thanksgiving and with my luck there will be snow on the ground (you never know in ohio....) anyways thanks for the suggestions!!! It is nice to have a plan B
