October 2012 Weddings

My dress is tight, I want to cry...

I had my dress fitting this past Saturday.  I knew that I had gained 10lbs. since I bought the dress in April.  It zipped up and everything, but it is really. and I mean really snug on the top.  I found that a little odd because I tend to gain weight on my bottom half first.  it fit fine in the waist.

They are not doing any alterations other than the bustle and a hem, the seamstress seemed to think it fit fine.  But I feel a difference and I felt like a stuffed sausage ready to explode.  Could be that I was bloated...my cycle started early this month (probably stress) and I got it Monday.  Ok, easy enough explanation but that means i will also bloat at the time of the wedding (the 26th).

I took immediate action and cut out my diet coke (thinking extra sodium plus the chemicals) and am drinking nothing but water with lemon and any kind of junk food is gone.  I also pumped up the exercise.  Yea, i know this should have been done a long time ago but I have issues with stress (am on meds) and I am a stress eater!!!

Ahhh, I just needed to vent....and please, I'm begging here lol, send positive vibes my way...I don't want to be uncomfortable on my day!!!

  • Sending you positive vibes...
I know in my case I cut out the soda and it made a HUGE difference...the gas of the carbination is what bloated me... and I went down like 5-7 lbs in 2 weeks from that alone...

LOTS of water!, eat healthy and exercise should help... sending you lots of love and hugs :D
  • I am sorry that the dress is tight.  It could be a blessing because you don't want it falling down on your wedding day.  That happened to an old friend of mine at her wedding.  It didn't come completely down but she was showing ALOT of clevage.

I say keep up what you are doing and that should help.  Dress vibes to you.

  • I'm right there with you due to alterations.  Start drinking water!  Make sure you're getting at least 8 glasses a day.  Watch carbs and salt, load up on veggies and continue your workouts.  I've been watching what I've been eating for a while (I'm 50lbs down, but still have another 40 to go).  Try using My fitness Pal to track calories in and out.  I looked at how I was eating and found some places that I could do better.  I don't expect to lose a lot of weight because I've been on this journey for so long and know how my body works, but I'm hoping to lose some of the bloat.

One of the girls recommended I try using a body wrap to help with the excess water.  I have never tried that but it might be a good last minute debloater.  If anything it will force you to relax for an hour, and stress is yet another cause of weight gain/ bloat.

Good Luck!  We can do this!
  • Thanks ladies!  You guys are fantastic!

Schnugglebug...yes, I am hoping that cutting out the soda is going to make a difference.  It's something my sister has done recently and it made a big difference.  My doctor has been telling me to do it for several years now anyway!

  • It sounds like you're doing everything you should. I wouldn't worry too much.  I'm a ball of nerves since I have my final fitting next week, so I'm sending you good dress vibes!

  • It will all be okay. It is most likely that time of month esp since you usually put on weight elsewhere and that area was fine. I have definitely cut back on things too just to be safe bc my dress fit a little too well. You will be fine. :

Sending you the best positive thoughts!!
Please know, I was where you are now...I tried my dress on about three and half weeks out and it took two girls to zip it...I mean it had to be forced. I cried myself to sleep that night, but I have a good group of positive thinkers and they helped me focus on my diet. I took in more water than a camel can hold and cut out the extra sugar and carbs. When I tried on my dress last weekend...it zipped right up. It is only a tiny bit snug at the top but I find that I'm more comfortable and I don't have to worry about any wardrobe malfunctions. ;-)

I am very happy to hear this!  First I am glad that you zipped up with no problem.  Secondly I am even happier to hear it was in such a short period of time since its about the same time frame as me.  Whew!  And thank you!!

  • I feel you! I am one week out, and two weeks ago cut the soda, and drink a liter of water (thanks crystal lite!) every 4 hrs, but I think Im also going to be bloated too, and was considering a wrap. I told FI, Im bringing a roll of saran wrap to loose water weight like I used to do when I was modeling. lol Ill just say im his wedding gift he can unwrap :)
