POLL- Have you ever...

Been to Vegas?

FI came home excited and said we MUST do something out of the ordinary.  So, VEGAS it is!  I've never been ;)

1)  Where did you stay?
2)  Would you stay there again or stay somewhere else?
3)  If no, why?
4)  Where would you stay your next visit and why?
5)  What was your favorite thing to do or see?
6)  What would you skip next time?

I lived there for 3+ years....  I never stayed on the strip, but am quite familiar with all the hotels....

to stay:  if money is not an object, THEHotel at Mandalay Bay, The Wynn/Encore or The Venetian.  If you want to be more economical - MGM Grand (slightly), Luxor, Mote Carlo or TI.

    to not stay: Stratosphere

Check out a Cirque show - KA is my favorite.  The Fountains at the Bellagio, The volcano at the mirage.  Get a really big drink and walk around with it all night.  (walk down the street!  no one will stop you!)  Eat amazing food!!  (so many good restaurants to choose from!).  If you rent a car, go see Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire National Park.  They are gorgeous an so very different from anything you can see in New England.  And the hoover dam too.

    1)  Where did you stay?  The Luxor

    2)  Would you stay there again or stay somewhere else?  Somewhere else, to try different.  It was cool, but it is a bit older now.  I'd definitely stay on the strip though.

    3)  If no, why?  see 2.

    4)  Where would you stay your next visit and why?  Bellagio?  That place was pretty but very expensive.

    5)  What was your favorite thing to do or see?  Impersonator show was really cool.  I wish we'd gone to the Star Trek exhibit.  I'm a big fan, but everythng was pretty expenisve and we were poor college students.  Also would be cool to take a trip out the Grand Canyon or Hoover Dam, never been.

    6)  What would you skip next time?  Gambling.  It was boring.

    1)  Where did you stay?
I have stayed at the Palace Station, looooong time ago when I was like, 10. More recently, I stayed in the Fremont Street area at the Golden Nugget, which was really nice and low price and the Plaza.

    2)  Would you stay there again or stay somewhere else?
They were both fine for the price and it works well because they have a bus called the Deuce which is a shuttle that runs the whole length of the strip.
    3)  If no, why?
    4)  Where would you stay your next visit and why?
Since the economy tanked, there are really great deals on Caesars and Bellagio so I would stay there or the Venetian.  Even Planet Hollywood was hip and modern.
    5)  What was your favorite thing to do or see?
I also loved the Paris hotel and going up in their Eiffel Tower at night. It was sooo pretty.  You definitely also have to catch the fountain shows outside of the Bellagio.  They are so creative and I loved them all.  This makes me a huge cheeseball but I also saw Celine at the Colosseum and I can't wait to go again!
    6)  What would you skip next time?

I would agree with the PP who said to skip gambling.  I have been to Vegas 3 times and never gambled.  I am 25 so this should give you an idea that there are plenty of things to amuse people without sitting in a room with no windows and staring aimlessly at a machine.

    1)  Where did you stay?
Treasure Island...with strip and mountain views

    2)  Would you stay there again or stay somewhere else?
Next time we are staying at the Venetian

    3)  If no, why?
We like to try out different hotels

    4)  Where would you stay your next visit and why?
We like to try out different hotels

    5)  What was your favorite thing to do or see?
I loved KA (Cirque) and of course walking through all the hotels/casinos, the fountain show at the Bellagio. Our #1 place is the Piano Bar!!

    6)  What would you skip next time?

Skip the buffets...you never eat enough to make it worth the wait or the price.

That's so funny!  I always say I hate nature and the only place I'll sleep in a camper is in my grandfathers yard in the city. haha.  I think that would be for if we brought his son with us someday.

I think we'll stick with a hotel this time since its out first time.  Thanks for the ideas though!

    1)  Where did you stay? I've gone twice and stayed at both the Paris and Mandalay Bay
    2)  Would you stay there again or stay somewhere else?  I would stay at Mandalay Bay.  Where else can you go and lie on a man made beach in the middle of the city?  It was awesome.
    5)  What was your favorite thing to do or see? I saw a Cirque de Solie show which I was not crazy about.  I also saw Mama Mia which I loved.
    6)  What would you skip next time? Nothing.  You need to walk the strip and see all the different attractions at the various hotels.

    1)  Where did you stay? Tropicanca, Excalibur, Polo Grounds Condos.
    2)  Would you stay there again or stay somewhere else?   Only the Polo Grounds condo.
    3)  If no, why?   Tropicana does not exist and Excalibur was loud with obnoxious children.
    4)  Where would you stay your next visit and why?  We are staying again at the Polo Grounds in September
    5)  What was your favorite thing to do or see?  Cirque du Soleil.  We have booked tickets for Love and Zumanity for this year.
    6)  What would you skip next time?  The free pirate show at Treaure Island and the aquatic show at Mandalay Bay.   The helicopter tour of the Hoover Dam was a total rip off.

When I went for the Vegas experience, I stayed at Mandeley Bay.  I loved it!  I was able to sit on the "beach" all day and relax and then go out at night.  I felt like some of the other hotels there was not as much to do during the day.

If you like hiking/climbing, I would recommend visiting Red Rock Canyon.  It is a short drive from the strip and gorgeous!
