Alterations IN Center City?

I don't usually post on here because I'm getting married in my hometown, but I live in Philly and could use your help finding someone for alterations to my wedding dress.  I don't have a car and I know alterations require several trips so I was really hoping to find someone in center city or at least easily accessible by public transit to do the alterations.

I know Nilah gets recommended a lot but she is a good hour from me by public transit, and I don't know that area well but I'm not sure I want to be wandering around 69th St with an expensive wedding dress in my arms.

I don't need a lot of work done on the dress but the one big thing I DO need is a bustle so I am nervous to take it to a regular tailor.  I got the dress at Sabrina Ann and they don't do alterations so that's not an option.  Suggestions?

I used Maria at 12th & Moyamensing in South Philly.  She has a shop there. Absoultely loved her and she did a beautiful job on my dress which had a complicated bustle.  She is only a few blocks from the Oregon stop of the Broad Street Line and the 23 bus stops right on the corner.  (215) 462-2707.  Good luck!

Thanks!  She doesn't have a website or anything?  I'm so nervous about entrusting my dress to someone for alterations!

No website unfortunately.  I had never used her before and was skeptical myself. The shop where I was getting my gown literally was going out of business right before my wedding (unbeknownst to me) and I didn't get my gown until one month before my wedding (I was definetely in a panic).  Her shop is in my neighborhood and I went there practically begging to do my gown on such short notice.  She was more than accomodating and the dress came out perfect.  I didn't have the luxury of time but if I did, I would definetly go to the various places you were interested in and talk to them first, maybe ask to see some examples before you make your final decision.   GL!
